The Amazon Books team is actively recruiting experienced Software Engineers for the Make-On-Demand (MOD) MAKE team located in Seattle, Washington. Join us as together we revolutionize the MOD industry, starting with books manufacturing.

The software developer being hired for this position in MOD-MAKE team will have experience in architecture, design & delivery of software services to invent solutions that enable the world-wide network of manufacturing centers operate 24/7 and always at peak performance. We are looking for talented and curious full-stack software developer with a background in cloud computing, device interfacing, data processing, workflow optimizations and user experience to provide innovative solutions that ensure production of highest quality assets at maximum throughput with minimal waste.

You will have the opportunity to showcase your technical skills in the areas such as algorithms, object oriented design, distributed systems, IoT, low latency, high availability systems and much more. You will be responsible for contributing to the teams roadmap, mentoring engineers, and collaborating with a diverse group of business and technical partners to shape the future of our technology.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C including object-oriented design
1+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Masters Degree in Computer Science or related field
Architecture skills, knowledge of design patterns, and strong fundamentals
Experience in cloud computing, especially with AWS
Experience working with Linux
Familiar with best practices in building secure, modern web applications at scale, supporting multiple tenants
Experience developing high-performance database applications
Clear, professional communication skills able to contribute to team discussions, knowing when to contribute, when to listen, and when to ask questions
You are the type of person that quickly wins the respect of peers, and jumps at the chance to share knowledge and mentor
