We are specifically looking for leaders who are interested in improving our Audio experience by relentlessly finding solutions to a wide range of technical challenges in real-time audio communications. This specific position will helps lead a team that will develop and improve our media libraries to be used across MacOS/Windows/iOS/Android application development. We are looking for someone who has a strong understanding of media challenges in VOIP applications. You will help implement audio/video processing components to improve the customer experience. Additionally, you are comfortable debugging low level Audio system issues, working on different platforms and devices, and optimizing audio quality for different network and device conditions. You will work closely with the client and UX team to deliver incremental improvements from the media team. This will at times require prototyping media-related UI and improving the application build systems.
This is a hands-on position where you closely collaborate with your team to designing and building extremely high quality and stable audio service that millions of users can rely on.
You will have a chance to work our external customers that use Amazon Chime SDK to integrate Audio into their applications as well as the Amazon Chime client teams that provide a SAS UC product. You need lead the open source commits to Chromium and WebRTC to improve the web audio and bring the best audio fidelity to the Chime Audio services. You need to not only be a top software engineering leader, but will need to be able to dive into the code while leading software design and architecture, have an understanding of audio, codecs and audio transmission over IP networks, and a stellar record of delivery but also excel at leadership and customer obsession and have a real passion for massive-scale computing. Your responsibilities will include:
Lead engineering teams to translate complex functional and technical requirements into detailed architecture and design
Deliver systems and features with top-notch quality, on time
Develop new technologies for monitoring production clusters
Own the software development process end-to-end, including: working with engineers and product managers to develop requirements; designing, architecting, planning, implementing, and testing new systems and features; deploying, and operating the production audio services.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
5+ years' experience developing a complex software product
2+ years' experience in software engineering management
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Masters or PhD in Computer Science with 8 years of relevant software development and engineering management experience
Experience with audio development or engineering large scale distributed audio service or Audio SDK is strongly preferred.
