The DB services team is growing rapidly and we are looking for a software engineer to work on a new database service. We are building new AWS services and features from the ground up, offering a unique opportunity for engineers who want to help define, design, build, and operate cloud services that are changing the world and enabling our customers. As a member of the team:
You will design, implement, test, document, and provide operational support for the database service.
You will develop and help launch of core features and products
You will participate in all stages of the software development cycle, including estimation, sprint planning, design and development of significant new architectural systems and improvements
You will produce comprehensive software documentation
You will help evolve the technical direction of the service
You will follow software development and operational best practices.
You will help hire and mentor junior developers
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C including object-oriented design
1+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
Bachelors degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering or related field
5+ years of professional software engineering experience
Excellent Computer Science fundamentals in algorithm design, data structures, problem solving, and complexity analysis
Strong proficiency in developing objected-oriented software in one or more relevant languages (Java, Kotlin, C, C++, C)
Strong analytical skills, with excellent problem-solving abilities
Proven track record of delivering high quality software on time
Good written and verbal communication skills, be a fast learner and have the ability to adapt quickly to a fast-paced development environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Masters Degree in Computer Science or related field
Experience on a UNIX or Linux platform
Experience with distributed (multi-tiered) systems, algorithms, databases and optimization
Thorough understanding of distributed systems, concurrency, asynchronous architectures
Experience working in an agile software development organization
