We are looking for a Sr. UX Designer in NYC or Seattle with experience designing impactful customer-facing digital experiences from ideation, to concept, to completion. You will collaborate with multiple teams across Amazon and work with UX/Product/Business/Technical teams to create a seamless user experience while staying on the cutting edge of new features and technology. As a Sr. UX Designer on this innovative team, you will be responsible for delighting Manga customers, and building patterns/experiences that will grow JP Manga Books and eventually scale worldwide.
A successful candidate must be thoughtful, adaptable and able to succeed in a fast-paced environment without much supervision, and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. This candidate will be able to explore and translate complex interactions into simple, engaging solutions and be able to communicate those solutions verbally, as well as through sketches, user flows, wireframes, hi-fi mocks and functional prototypes.
Key Responsibilities:
· Partner and collaborate with Product Managers and Engineering, from defining high-level design strategy through supporting product launches
· Create information architecture, wireframe user flows, interaction prototypes, high fidelity mockups and detailed UI and visual design specifications for web, mobile, and app interfaces
· Adapt designs and workflows by considering customer feedback, site metrics, user research, and any other sources of feedback/data
· Champion user research and customer feedback through planning and conducting user research with consultation by UX Researchers and other stakeholders
· Involvement in business requirements by understanding use cases and customer needs
· Contribute to user interface design and development of best practices and standards at Amazon
· Engage with other designers, stakeholders, executives, and external partners to get feedback and/or create buy-in for your vision
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor's degree in design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or equivalent professional experience
· 8+ years of industry experience in UX design or related discipline
· Digital portfolio and/or work samples demonstrating experience with creating end-to-end user-centered design solutions and patterns, design strategy, and design process across desktop and mobile devices
· Proficiency in high-fidelity mockup and prototyping tools (Sketch, XD, InVision, Keynote, Photoshop, etc.) and command of technologies (web, Android, iOS, etc.) required for their specific role
· Familiarity with qualitative and quantitative user/customer research
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Passion for digital products, media, and reading
· Capability to use data and metrics to back up assumptions, recommendations, and drive actions
· Ability to juggle multiple priorities, work through ambiguous challenges, and excel in a lean work environment
· Experience working in Japanese and/or working with the Japan market
· Comfortable with international travel (when it is safe to do so) and working across timezones
