The Position

Payment Network Relationship Manager is a new leadership position within the Card Retail and Merchant Services (CRMS) business that will be responsible for network oversight and implementation.

This individual will focus on:

Manage Network contracts

* Lead contract negotiations with payment networks (networks) across all relevant LOBs
* Work with 3rd party sourcing to ensure proper execution of contracts
* Primary business relationship Contact for Consumer Credit and Acquiring
* Manage Network agreements (e.g. Visa, AMEX, Master Card and Discover agreements)

Network relationships

* Day-to-day, POC for networks on behalf of CRMS
* Coordinate regular business reviews
* Point of entry responsible for learning, filtering and dissemination to CRMS, relevant network developments

Financial Oversight

* Collaborate with finance to review adequacy of billing received from networks, appropriately challenge
* Oversee distribution and optimization of marketing funds received across CRMS & other business units
* Review optional services usage from CRMS

Compliance & Controls

* Evaluate list of existing/new network rules and determine business applicability
* Quarterback the process of assessing gaps to rules and developing solutions for execution in coordination with relevant LOBs
* Lead process for CRMS requesting rule waivers
* Monitor CRMS adherence to Network rules and compliance
* Monitor network compliance to contract key terms and conditions
* Lead discussion w/networks in cases of non-compliance

Expertise, Reporting & Internal Communications

* Ensure LOBs are up to date with current and future developments regarding networks
* Serve as a proactive, consultative expert on all networks products and services, plus qualifications, interchange, plastics, branding and more

Project Management

* Serve as a proactive, educated facilitator of communications and projects between Wells Fargo and payment networks
* Provide leadership in identifying, prioritizing and building consensus around new initiatives
* Lead the Network Enhancements Forum and related PMO projects to ensure mandates are implemented

Required Qualifications
* 5+ years of leadership experience
* 10+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: business support, project management, implementation, business operations or strategic planning in financial services

Other Desired Qualifications
* Proven ability to build collaborative relationships, develop, maintain and strengthen both internal and external relationships, initiate action plans, manage change, make high impact decisions and complete challenging assignments
* Possess exceptional oral and written communication skills and an ability to synthesize and articulate complex topics into simple, clear communications to all levels of the organizations
* Proven ability to develop and implement a strategic plan within a business and lead it to completion
* Deep relationship management skills, working with internal and external individuals and organizations with a demonstrated ability to influence, add value, reach consensus and create win-win solutions
* Extensive knowledge and understanding of payment card industry, specifically Visa, including Acquiring & Acceptance, Card Strategy, Digital Solutions, Disputes, Network, Operations and Risk identification/management
* Extensive knowledge and understanding of merchant sales and acquisition, transaction processing, risk management, and marketplace dynamics
* Extensive knowledge and understanding of network portfolio and lifecycle management strategies (create, launch, manage, and market profitable card programs)
* Familiarity with Visa Digital Solutions (well-versed in the tools to create, manage and accept secure digital payments in-store, online or in-app) and VisaNet (interchange, stand-in processing, and Edit Package)
* Understanding of Visas operational systems and processes (managing authorizations, to billing statements, to new Visa rules)
* Strong understanding of payment processing and customer needs
* Evidence of leadership, initiative, accountability, productivity and teamwork required
* Effective leadership in managing multiple initiatives, multi-tasking and prioritization in a fast-paced, matrixed environment
