As the Checkout Experiences Team, we are at the center of our Nordstrom eCommerce business.Our team partners with teams across the Nordstrom ecosystem to provide rich checkout capabilities.Being the end of our customers shopping experience and the beginning of the fulfillment experience, our team is always in demand to help our business excel.

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to build, lead and support a highly skilled development team focused on driving data driven and business led initiatives for our scaled events, support key engagement campaigns and spearhead on-going customer improvement initiatives. Furthermore, you will be a part of our leadership team chartering the course to meet our customers increasing demand of the digital checkout experience across all of our Nordstrom clients and entities.

A day in the life

* Responsible for architecture and solution level design at the team level
* Lead and influence the team in software design and development, ensure the team applies the software development best practices, makes smart decisions and tradeoffs, and delivers the projects on time with high quality.
* Influence quality standards and understand, identify and measure across an entire solution
* Understand architecture and systems at the organization level. Drive communications across teams, align timeline and dependencies, drive comprehensive solutions spanning multiple teams.
* Understand the business and product vision, collaborate with stakeholders, and set the teams technology and process strategies to align with the vision.
* Assist in enhancing department vision and strategies to support company goals and receive guidance from more senior leaders
* Empower and support developers, coach them to build their careers, foster team collaboration.
* Create training opportunities for team to learn the latest technologies and methodologies
* Ensure team has the tools, resources, and information they need to be successful
* Cultivate technical leaders and grow the team.
* Hire capable and motivated talent that can deliver swiftly and predictably, adjusting in an agile fashion to deliver solutions aligned with business needs
* Contribute to architecture, coding, test plans, project plans, deployment planning and operations to drive excellence and lead team towards its goals
* Employ continuous improvement methodologies across own team (e.g. quantifies impacts customer first, waste elimination, increased productivity, iterates quickly, shorten feedback loop, experience creating relevant KPIs)

You own this if you have

* 5+ years of hands-on professional experience in delivering quality software, ideally across the full stack
* 2+ years leading teams (preferred)
* Strong communication, leadership, organization and problem-solving skills
* A BA/BS in Computer Science or closely related degree or equivalent practical experience
* Proven track record of delivering well designed systems with hands-on experience ranging from designing and architecting, built for scale and tested for performance. Experience designing full-stack solutions is preferred
* Experience with public cloud technologies, proficiency with AWS a plus
* Experience with object-oriented programing in languages such as Java, JavaScript and C++
* Experience with front-end frameworks such as ReactJS and AngularJS
* Experience with dev-ops best practices, CI/CD, alerting, monitoring, A/B testing and 24/7 production support
* Experience with agile software development, such as SCRUM or Kanban
