Job Description Summary

The primary purpose of the Enterprise Automation role is to establish the strategic direction for business process automation strategy and execution across Nationwide. It includes the definition and adoption of business process automation methods, tools, metrics and best practices. These automation capabilities are key to achieving our enterprise operational speed and efficiency goals. The role will also ensure the enterprise automation strategy is in alignment with the business transformation office productivity and enterprise lean capabilities.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to VP Business Transformation Office. Manages a team of 4+ associates

Core Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Lead the Enterprise Automation Team to improve business process automation as a discipline across Nationwide. Drive standard methods, tools, techniques, and metrics in the process automation space. Champion the research and development of new tools and techniques to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our enterprise automation focus. Lead improvement initiatives in Enterprise Automation across business and IT solutions as well as build skills and provide uplift across Nationwide.

2. Partner with the BTO Productivity and BTO Lean leaders to drive an integrated set of services for the departments we serve.

3. Partner with Streamline Operations to ensure proper oversight, governance, and return on investment for the annual STOps investment.

4. Partner with Nationwide Technology to create an execution model supporting the automation center of excellence.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: BS or BA degree in Computer Science.

License/Certification/Designation: Experience and/or Certification in Lean and Operational Excellence. Project Management certification or relevant experience required. Agile certification or relevant experience required.

Experience: Demonstrated leadership ability and 5-10 years of progressively increasing organizational scope, 10+ years experience in operational excellence / continuous improvement, 5+ years experience in financial services, 3+ years of experience in Lean, and Agile technology practices. Advanced synthesis, communication and presentation skills. Experience with structured problem solving, design thinking, and systems thinking.
