Job Summary
This position is designed for educational and research experience for individuals working towards advanced post-graduate training in Urologic Oncology. This may include medical students, recent graduates of medical schools, and candidates who have completed their Urology Residency.

The Graduate Research Fellow conducts research projects in Urologic Oncology, with a specific focus on utilizing health-services research methods in the analysis of large data-sets. The fellow will gain experience in a wide array of observational data analysis tools and practical application of these methods in projects focused on Genito-urinary malignancies and surgical outcomes. The fellow is expected to actively design new protocols and oversee ongoing clinical research projects, both observational and prospective. There will be ample opportunity to engage in mentorship and training in clinical trials.

Fellows will be supported by a bio-statistician from the Center for Outcomes Research (COR) at Houston Methodist Hospital. There is ample opportunity for collaborative, multi-disciplinary projects though the Houston Methodist Hospital and Texas Medical Center. The fellow will be expected to present their work at National and International Meetings such as the SUO or AUA as part of a process towards peer-reviewed publications as First Author.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Develops research methods and performs research activities. (EF)

Documents research results and writes reports of results for presentation and/or publication in professional journals and other publications. (EF)

Assists in maintaining the functionality and operations of the Principal Investigators laboratory. (EF)

Demonstrates the components of the I CARE values. (EF)

Follows all safety rules while on the job. Reports accidents promptly and corrects minor safety hazards. Communicates with peers and management regarding any hazards identified in the workplace. (EF)

Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal Investigator.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

M.D. or Ph.D required

A letter from the academic institution certifying that all student work is complete will be considered for Postdoctoral Fellow 0 only.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Experience requirements will vary depending on the field of research.

Postdoctoral Fellow 0 no Postdoc experience required

Postdoctoral Fellow 1 one year of Postdoc experience

Postdoctoral Fellow 2 two years of experience

Postdoctoral Fellow 3 three years of postdoc experience

Postdoctoral Fellow 4 four years of postdoc experience
