Charles Schwab Investment Management (CSIM) is the asset management arm of the Charles Schwab Corporation, and has over $309 billion under management in mutual funds and ETFs. Products managed include a wide variety of active and indexed equity, fixed income, and asset allocation strategies, as well as money markets funds. CSIM uses a consistent and disciplined approach to investing across all our products and seeks to develop innovative new products to meet the core investing needs of our clients.

What you are good at

The Europe Equity Trader will be an experienced trading expert with a specialty in European equities. The role will include: developing and implementing trading strategies for EMEA equities and FX; executing securities transactions during European market hours; enhancing relationships with trading counterparties of the firm; developing and articulating CSIMs position on regional market structure; contributing to transaction cost analyses and broker evaluation; and working closely with the CSIM Capital Markets Team to support the ETF create/redeem process. This role requires deep expertise in international equity trading, a strong understanding of regional microstructure, and the discipline to work independently. The Europe Equity Trader will work closely with the active and passive portfolio management teams, CSIM Equity Trading, Trade & Security Operations and will generally represent the trading team in all matters related to Europe equity execution.

What you have

* Bachelors degree required; MBA or CFA designation desirable but not required
* 8 or more years of equity trading experience with a majority of this dedicated to trading European Emerging & Developed Markets; experience in other regions/markets desirable but not required
* Comprehensive knowledge of international equity trading strategies, venues, and regulations
* Experience trading futures and foreign exchange
* Demonstrated expertise in transaction cost theory and analysis
* Expert in European market microstructure
* Ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with sell-side brokers, vendors, authorized participants, and other key industry stakeholders
* Resourceful, proactive, and able to prioritize and navigate in a fast-paced environment
* Disciplined self-starter who can utilize downtime on value-add projects and additional trade analysis
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Role is primarily for trading European local hours, flexibility in schedule is highly valued
