The Azure Global Strategy and Pricing Analytics Business Planning team is looking to take our cloud pricing to the next level. The team heavily relies on data for their planning, execution, and operations. We have strong curiosity about the wealth of data available to us, and we are always looking for ways to use it to improve our customer experiences and business performance

The Azure Global Strategy & Pricing Analytics Data Scientist will be using data to deliver pricing prototypes and actionable pricing insights that drive improvements to the Azure platform and its customers. In this role, you will be responsible for the development of innovative pricing models and advanced data analysis, that enable our Azure pricing to more effectively and efficiently drive our short- and long-term business objectives. This role will

Build Pricing Algorithms for new regions that help drive towards the long range plan
The intake and prioritization process for analytical needs
Be the voice of analytics in leadership forums and up-level data-informed storytelling across Azure Global Strategy and Pricing Analytics within Business Planning and with Stakeholders
Continuously learn about pricing analytics industry trends and keep the key stakeholders educated
Conduct pricing experiments within and across different regions
Build models that detect pricing anomalies and customer reaction to changes in prices
Work collaboratively with data engineering teams as required to acquire all necessary data to support project needs

The work will involve a combination of economic and statistical modeling, simulations as well as some data engineering visualization. Possible topics include regional pricing strategy, bundling options, demand estimation, improving customer experience, and virtual machine bin packing.

Required Qualifications:
7+ years of industry experience in data science or related roles
A bachelor's degree or master's degree in a quantitative field such as computer science, economics, mathematics, physics, or statistics (advanced degrees preferred)
Proficiency with standard libraries in Python
Proficiency with relational databases and SQL
Proficiency with distributed big data analytics
Solid understanding ofu202Fprobability, statistics, machine learning, data science
Expertise with A/B testing and analysis of machine learning models, and optimizing models for accuracy

Preferred Qualifications:
Proficiency with statistical packages in R
Experience working with machine learning models
Ability to work across multiple models; be able to identify the different data sources across Microsoft that we should use
Experience with TensorFlow/PyTorch and deep learning models is a plus
Experience with, or familiarity of, Microsoft customer and commercial models and databases
