Job Description

Do you want to be part of a high visibility startup team that is determined to improve the lives of one billion users and become the next big consumer business for Microsoft?

We are the newly formed Youth and Learning team under the WebXT organization, home to Microsoft's major AI-powered products and businesses such as Bing and Ads. Our mission is to connect students, parents and educators around the world, enabling them to share knowledge and have affordable 24/7 access to quality information and education on a variety of subjects that augment and compliment what traditional school systems are able to offer. With our global 1 billion user footprint and incredible search, AI and collaboration tool muscle, we have the opportunity to create millions of high quality connections between students and educators at unprecedented scale and affordable cost. This represents a significant opportunity to impact customers across the socio-economic spectrum by driving an enormous volume of positive learning outcomes and new economic opportunities for an underutilized global workforce recovering from the impact of the pandemic.

The COVID crisis has acclimated the majority of youth, parents and educators to learning online. It is also creating an unprecedented gap in school achievement, creating a need to help many youth get additional assistance and avoid falling behind. As the work-from-home workforce expands rapidly, parents are also increasingly in need of ways to help their children use time constructively and under supervision while they focus on work. We are looking for excellent Engineering leadership and expertise to lead the charge as we define, develop, deliver and iterate upon our first product offerings in this key space.

For this role, we seek an experienced and hands-on Principal Development Manager who is a capable and collaborative engineering leader, intensely customer and product driven, and who loves building and driving the rapid execution of a v1 product that aims to solve our customer and educator's needs. As a part of this role, you will work closely with a global team of data scientists, software engineers, machine learning engineers and product managers to build a best-in-class service that wins the hearts and minds of end users.
