Description:
* Performs a variety of duties in the electronic and electromechanical areas. This includes use of manual and automated test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, power supplies, frequency counters, etc.), for production and product development. Works from engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions. Duties include supervised and unsupervised assignments in direct support of an engineer or program, usually in a specific field requiring the application of technical fundamentals. Assist technicians, engineering aides and engineers as directed. Record test data, maintain test data file system, shop routing documentation and accept/reject data for production and engineering units. Perform troubleshooting and failure analysis on electronic circuits and assemblies.
* Calibrates electronic test measuring equipment and signal generating equipment to conform to set standards. Maintains engineering specifications and other related technical records.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Sets up test equipment and conducts tests of production assemblies and units following methods, procedures, standards, and sequences.
* Uses electronic test and measurement equipment in performing job duties.
* Assist technicians, engineering aides and engineers as directed.
* Record test data, maintain test data file system, shop routing documentation and accept/reject data for production & some engineering units. Performs failure analysis including root cause and corrective action on test failures.
* Constructs, troubleshoots, tests, and maintains electronic and electromechanical measuring and indicating instruments, devices, or systems as needed.
* Performs calibration checks, adjustments, modifications and replacements as needed.
* Corrects malfunctions by adjusting or replacing parts or components as directed.
* Uses computer in performance of analyses and development of technical documentation and reports. May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis.
* Searches, nvestigates and selects technical reference data pertinent to the project assigned, utilizing engineering tests, papers, journals, periodicals and other informational sources.
* Makes calculations employing prescribed mathematical formulas and assists data processing systems analyst to organize technical data and formulas for processing.
* Maintains engineering specifications and other related technical records. Compiles and classifies data to existing information as requested by the engineering department.
* Performs other job duties as directed.
Basic Qualifications. 5-10 years of previous relevant experience required. Associates degree in electronics technology, electrical engineering, or equivalent experience. Requires highly developed job knowledge and skills. Attention to detail and following procedures is a must. Proficient in the use of oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, and other electronic test equipment. Must be proficient in component level troubleshooting and capable of understanding electronic schematics for fault isolation. Prefer experience in the RF field utilizing spectrum analyzers, power meters, and network analyzers. Must be security clearance eligible.
