Description
The Accountant 2 conducts or assists in the documentation of accounting projects. The Accountant 2 work assignments are varied and frequently require interpretation and independent determination of the appropriate courses of action.
Responsibilities
The Accountant 2 prepares, records, analyzes and reports accounting transactions and ensures the integrity of accounting records for completeness, accuracy and compliance with accepted accounting policies and principles. Provides financial support, including forecasting, budgeting and analyzing variations from budget. Analyzes and prepares statutory accounts, financial statements and reports. Understands department, segment, and organizational strategy and operating objectives, including their linkages to related areas. Makes decisions regarding own work methods, occasionally in ambiguous situations, and requires minimal direction and receives guidance where needed. Follows established guidelines/procedures.
As a Pharmacy Finance Professional (Accountant 2) you will work with large volumes of data comprised of pharmacy claims and complete analysis to support the following responsibilities:
* Assist in presenting and implementing recommendations and solutions
* Monthly Close Responsibilities to include journal entries & account reconciliations
* Completing weekly member netting application, ensuring all member check & letter communication is completed accurately and timely
* Complete data analysis (including creating the reports and pulling the data), provide regularly scheduled reporting and communicate meaningful results to leadership
* Promote the implementation of best practices and monitor for adherence to processes
* Collaborate with internal partners to ensure responsibilities are completed within outlined time frames
* Support department metrics reporting
* Special projects as business requires
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent
* 2- 5 years of technical experience ( SQL, Excel, Access, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
* Prior experience in public or corporate accounting
* Previous experience with pharmacy benefits management
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Access is ideal
* Strong technical accounting skills
