Job Description

The signals engineer to analyze, design, model and simulate communications systems. The employee will design algorithms and build subsystems for satellite communications networks; assist with fabricating system components; test and evaluate system components; and design and execute field tests to evaluate performance of WiFi, cellular, satellite and other communications systems. Duties will also include writing reports, developing briefings and delivering briefings, sometimes to non-technical audiences.

The team works from a well-equipped lab facility in Chantilly, where our engineers operate as a team to invent creative solutions to unique customer communications problems. The ideal candidate will enjoy working as a team and tinkering with electronics to develop unusual communications systems.

Required and Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

Required
* Demonstrated understanding of signals and systems
* Experience with satellite and RF systems, including link budgets, noise analysis, modulation/demodulation signal analysis, and forward error correction coding.
* Experience operating in a Linux environment
* Experience scripting with Python, C++, shell scripts, or similar technologies
* Knowledge of wireless technology, digital/analog communications, or RF signals
* Ability to work on a team and initiative to carry projects through to completion
* Excellent written and verbal communication.

Desired
* Linux system administration skills
* Experience with mobile communications systems
* FPGA programming experience
* Experience with MATLAB
* Experience with Solid Works
* Active TS/SCI clearance
