Job Description

JOB FUNCTION:

Responsible for the development of new products or modifications of existing ones in the La Mer Skincare Formulation Lab. Is assigned several projects of different degrees of complexity. Ensures the timely completion of product development activities. May direct the activities of 0-4 people.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

* Actively develops commercially feasible new products or modifies existing ones with minimum supervision.

* Develops own approach for the delivery of the project and reviews it with management. Makes constructive contributions to product formulation.

* Determines stability of formulations and ensures commercial feasibility.

* Follows projects from prototype development through manufacturing.
Contributes in establishing manufacturing procedures.

* Assures that all testing to guarantee a marketable final product is on schedule.

* Establishes standards and submits batch cards to lab management for review.

* Keeps laboratory management informed of project progress. May make project direction recommendations.

* Trains and directs technicians or temporary help and entry level chemists in laboratory procedures. Checks their work.

* Resolves product or process problems.

* Stays abreast of developments in the cosmetic field and continues to demonstrate performance improvement. Reviews and prepares analysis of emerging cosmetic technology.

* Interfaces with all R&D departments, QA, Technical Services, Manufacturing and NY Products Department.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:

B.S. degree in relevant scientific field.

Minimum of 4 years technical experience in the cosmetic industry with 2 or more years of supervisory experience. Proficient at all aspects of category technology.
