Job Description

Tax accounting position within the corporate tax department that requires strong attention to detail and the ability to work cross-functionally to research and resolve issues. Essential functions require the ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner to meet deadlines. This position will assist with departmental objectives, ensure proper tax compliance and optimize efficiencies. Great opportunity for a motivated self-starter to gain a wide variety of exposure.

Essential Functions

* Assists in providing state and local tax compliance services and federal compliance services to assigned business segments and related subsidiaries and operations.
* Participates in the preparation of federal, state, and local tax returns and filings.
* Participates in moderately-complex portions of the year-end consolidated tax package which support the provisions reported in external financial reporting.
* Prepares special projects, including work on routine audit requests and research of moderately complex tax problems/issues.
* Works closely with team members and legal entity contacts.
* Completes day-to-day tax accounting tasks without immediate supervision, but is open to advice from more experienced team members. Tasks involve a degree of forward planning and anticipation of needs/issues.

Qualifications

* Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent work experience.
* 0-2 years relevant experience.
* PC skills; Microsoft Office programs; Strong Excel skills with the ability to easily learn new software. Experience with Access, Business Objects, and Essbase a plus.
* Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
* Demonstrated proficiency in accounting processes, procedures, and controls.
* Experience in general ledger account analysis/reconciliation.
* Self-starter and team player.
* Experience working with cross functional departments to research and resolve issues.
* Good problem solving and analytical skills.
* Understanding of business operations and processes.
* Focus on quality and service.
* Demonstrated customer service and relationship building skills.
* Demonstrated ability to meet multiple deadlines and manage heavy workload.
* Good verbal and written communication skills.
* Willingness to work a flexible schedule to accommodate departmental and project deadlines.
