Job summary:
The overall responsibility is to provide leadership and strategic direction to the Flexible Benefits and COBRA Administration Practice. The expected results embrace a robust profitable and growing line of business that earns national recognition in the industry and hence a known and reliable brand consistent with the McGriff name. The Practice Leader is also to execute on a proactive approach to the day-to-day activities within the Practice. The results expected from this position are well-organized Practices that continually meets the needs of Corporate Clients on a profitable basis and provides the employees with a rewarding opportunity for continued professional development.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.
1. Responsible for strategic direction and development of new service offerings.
2. Responsible for overall administration of Corporate Client Servicing. Oversees areas such as Client Call Center, Processing, Data Entry, Operations and Reconcilement. Creates the structure and processes necessary to manage the organization's current activities and its projected growth.
3. Directly engages in disturbance handling to address Client concerns and retain business.
4. Keeps abreast of current trends, IRS and DOL regulations and pronouncements through continuing education and participation in relevant industry associations and communicates these changes to the staff to promote knowledge. Ensures that all Practice activities and operations are carried out in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and laws governing business operations.
5. Assists with management decisions affecting proposals for new business including offering features and pricing to prospective Corporate Clients. Engages in presentation of proposals and closing of sales as appropriate.
6. Responsible for the timeliness and quality review of work performed by the Management Team. Reviews management reports of internal control for quality assurance.
7. Makes decisions regarding systems purchased and used and as well as procedures, tools and resources employed in work flow.
8. Maintains unqualified opinions on Statement of Control certifications or other industry appropriate reviews Attains satisfactory internal and external audit outcomes.
9. Handles management duties of performance plans, motivation and coaching. Directs and trains employees in the execution of their duties. Ensures Team Leaders appropriately solve and handle client service problems, client questions and check processing approval.
10. Evaluates the processes within the Practices to assure efficiencies and accuracy of all Practices functions in compliance with organizational standards including preparation and testing of business continuity plans.
11. Acts as a liaison with Consultants and Business Development Officers in other affiliated divisions who refer business. Provides line of business expertise.
12. Responsible for financial reporting and monitoring monthly and other generated periodic reports that are indicators of business health, ensuring long term, sustainable profitability of the Practice.
Required Skills and Competencies:

1. Bachelors degree related to business, marketing, or human resources, or equivalent education and/or training
2. Minimum of seven years of experience in Flexible Benefits, with a background in the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA)
3. Knowledge of IRS/DOL regulations impacting Flexible Benefits Services and COBRA Administration
4. Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications such as Microsoft Office products
5. Ability to make independent decisions and work with minimum supervision. Demonstrates ability to deal with complex situations that require sound judgment
6. Proven leadership skills
7. Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
Desired Skills:
1. Significant (ten years of experience) record keeping and Employee Benefit experience
2. Advanced degree(s) e.g. MBA, CPA
3. Working knowledge of Flexible Benefits systems and personal computers and operating systems of both
4. Other related insurance and benefits industry licensing, continuing education and certifications
5. Significant prior experience leading teams and/or projects
