General Duties and Responsibilities

Performs basic repairs and inspections of company vehicles and equipment to include the following:  oil changes, grease equipment, minor repairs, brake adjustments and brake repairs.
Performs electrical troubleshooting and repairs and inspects engine components (A/C, turbos, related engine items, and electrical).
Maintains basic tire knowledge for repairs, caps, and new purchases.
Completes all necessary paperwork and work orders.
Attends all safety meetings and trainings.
Maintains forklift and service truck functions.
Performs TMT time and task entries including EDVIR Response.
Discusses safety concerns immediately with Management personnel.
Works to maintain warranties for equipment and company vehicles.
Maintains accurate recordkeeping.
May weld and cut parts, using arc-welding and flame cutting equipment.
Provides own necessary hand tools and equipment.
Secures pre-approval on purchases of necessary shop tools, equipment, parts, etc. from supervisor on the repair and maintenance items.
Perform annual DOT inspections on tractor and trailers.
Follows OSHA requirements (e.g. lock-out / tag-out, MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets), combustible fuel storage, etc.).
Follows safe work practices based on P&P (Policies and Procedures).
Completes all assigned tasks, repairs, maintenance as directed.
Serves on-call schedule as determined by supervisor.
Works under direct to indirect supervision by lead mechanic or assigned technicians.
Regular attendance at the worksite is required.

Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
Safely repairs to company equipment with supervisor’s authorization.
Skilled in the use of basic mechanic hand tools
Ability to work overtime as necessary.
Ability to be a positive representative of the Company both internally and externally.
Ability to work with respect and cooperation at all times with fellow employees and customers.
Must be committed to working safely at all times.

Experience/Education:

High school diploma / GED or equivalent.
2-5 years’ experience working in a mechanical related field.
A recognized certification in mechanics, such as a Diesel-Engine Mechanic designation is a plus.
A valid Class A CDL driver’s license with Tanker and Air Brake endorsements is preferred.
A DOT medical card is preferred.

Travel:

Up to 30% travel required.  Requires the ability to travel to field locations where environment may vary significantly. The time will vary depending on skill level or in the accompaniment of another technician.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work requires physical efforts associated with using the computer and phones to access information.
