Job Summary

Purpose and Scope: 

Compliance with the companies Safe-Up program to ensure safety receives the highest priority in all tasks performed. Receives, stores and issues hand tools, machine tools, dies, replacement parts, hazardous materials (HAZMAT), shop supplies and equipment, such as measuring devices, in an industrial establishment. Monitors condition of all tools and equipment in tool room custody and is responsible for accountability of all tool inventories. Ensures client labeling, inspection, and calibration requirements are met on all tools within their custody.

Essential Responsibilities:

Maintains records of tools issued to and returned by workers. Ensures logs are accurate.
Receives, accounts for, unpacks and stores new equipment.
Attach identification tags or engrave identifying information on tools and equipment, using electric marking tools.
Prepares periodic inventory or keeps perpetual inventory and requisitions stock as needed.
Monitors condition of all equipment on an ongoing basis.
Reports loss, damage or destruction of tooling in accordance with documented procedures. 
Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested. 

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

Work is performed in a shop environment that is well lighted, heated and ventilated. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and must be able to openly communicate with a wide variety of individuals from varying backgrounds. The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts items weighing 15-25 pounds and occasionally up to, but never greater than, 50 pounds.  Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance. Position may require travel.

Procedure Compliance - Each employee must read, understand and implement the general and specific operational, safety, quality and environmental requirements of all plans, procedures and policies pertaining to his/her job.

Minimum Requirements

Must be a United States Citizen.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required. 
Familiarity with wide range of tools and equipment associated with support of aviation maintenance efforts.
Basic knowledge of US Navy tool control policy and procedure to include storage layout, locator systems, and proper material handling procedures. 
Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a government general-purpose vehicle.
