Specific Responsibilities
The Non-Op Project Manager, Suriname Development, for Apache Corporation will be a member of Apache's facility engineering team, reporting to the Vice President, Facilities Engineering. The position will serve as an Apache secondee in Paris, France on the Total Suriname Block 58 discoveries team where Total is the operator and Apache is the partner.
This role will be primarily responsible for the following:
Ensuring safety is addressed in all aspects of work planning and execution;
Accountable for development engineering work scopes within a safety, cost, schedule and quality framework;
Review and approval of contract engineering firms selected for use on projects;
Monitoring the status of the overall schedule, cost and quality for projects stewarded within the team;
Expected to frequently interface with Functional and Operational leadership to coordinate resources and resolve project issues as they occur;
Report project progress to the Vice President, Facilities Engineering and conduct regular status reviews including cost, schedule, performance and additional key input indicators;
Ensure project learnings are captured and shared with the Apache organization;
Develop and implement initiatives to improve work group efficiencies and performance;
Ensure Apache Stakeholders are updated and aligned as required during conceptual developments and relevant project checkpoints to enable effective and efficient funding approvals;
Responsible for Apache’s objectives as it relates to the project Stage Gate process;
International, Domestic and offshore travel (where required);
Travel to Houston, Texas will be required as needed.
Professional Qualifications & Experience:
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:
Knowledge of project management and delivery, including experience consulting for and/or working with oil and gas exploration and production businesses;
Minimum 20 years of experience working for and/or with large energy companies that have worldwide assets and operations;
Demonstrated understanding of standard practices and interfacing requirements with Engineering, Procurement and Construction contractors;
Strong and proven economic, analytical, and negotiation skills;
Outstanding communication, interpersonal, management, administrative, organizational, and leadership skills;
Experience implementing sound decisions when faced with multi-faceted problems;
Demonstrated ability to communicate vision and set goals;
An undergraduate degree from a competitive four-year college or university, with strong academic credentials;
A B.S in Engineering or related discipline; M.S. degree desired;
Project Management Professional (PMP) Certified or equivalent;
Experience and knowledge working in a secondment environment is desired;
Fluency in French is required.
