Job Summary:

This position will lead a variety of process improvement/Lean projects and Kaizen events related to lab productivity, customer service and supply management, and will work closely with senior leadership across Employer Solutions. The Project Manager is a critical part of the team that facilitates Quest Management System (QMS) principles and tools to ensure Quest Diagnostics is efficient and effective in the delivery of its services, solutions, and processes while improving customer and employee satisfaction. The responsibilities require individual to provide critical analytics to various teams, perform root cause analysis, implement solutions, identify growth opportunities, and lead strategic initiatives. This position will also be responsible for coaching others to learn and apply QMS principles and tools to their daily work.

The Quest Management System (QMS) is Quest Diagnostics approach to using a set of proven tools and methodologies to drive successful execution of, and results from, key initiatives and day-to-day work. It is the structured way we manage, lead, and solve problems. It is built on 7 practices:

Job Responsibilities

Facilitate projects, including timeline, budget, resource constraints, and deliverables / results

Lead local and Shingijutsu Kaizen events

Leads projects and working teams to effectively initiate, plan, execute, monitor, and close projects

Conduct in person and remote QMS/Lean training sessions

Acts as a change agent to drive teams toward success

Guides team members to perform through issues and constraints

Ensure appropriate use of tools (e.g., project charter, VSM, standard work, PDCA, pareto)

Communicates

Applies QMS and Lean principles and tools toward a variety of projects

Supports various teams, to achieve their goals by facilitating on-site and remote workshops, rapid continuous improvement events, and providing ongoing guidance or consultation, including QMS Certifications

Coaches other employees on the use of various tools, concepts, and practices foundational to QMS

Actively communicates with project sponsors and stakeholders

Establishes regular points of communication

Manages sponsor and stakeholders expectations

Delivers the expected results

Identifying root causes of issues and designing solutions that address them

Defining, monitoring, and controlling processes

Understanding (internal/ external) customer needs and designing solutions around them

Identifying the impacts from change and developing proactive change plans

Qualifications/ Job Requirements

Demonstrated experience in continuous improvement (3+ years)

Demonstrated experience of leading projects from initiation to completion

Demonstrated experience facilitating discussions or workshops

Knowledge of VOC tools

General knowledge of Hoshin and breakthrough planning

Experience leading changes, including 3P, organizational effectiveness, and tiered huddles

Effective written and verbal communication skills across multiple formats: formal presentations, meetings, conference calls, e-mails, and memos

Demonstrated data analytic skills

Demonstrated ability to develop strong relationships with others

Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously

Comfortable using Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint

Additional Duties

Formal training in project management or continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Total Quality Management, Lean, Theory of Constraints)
