Group Lead Cert Scientist- Lenexa, Kansas - Sunday to Wednesday 12:00pm - 10:30pm

JOB SUMMARY:

To review chain of custody, analytical data, and documentation of testing processes to ensure accuracy, completeness, and defensibility of test results and reporting documents prior to release of a result report. In addition, to lead certifying scientists and coordinate work and scheduling of certification processes. This position reports to and is evaluated by the Responsible Person.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

1) Certify drug testing results according to the Laboratorys Standard Operations Procedure (SOP) Manual.

2) Ensure that all test results reported by the laboratory are accurate and legally defensible.

3) Ensure that all certifying scientists are performing the certification process according to SOP.

4) Schedule and adjust work schedules of certification staff in order to achieve desired service levels.

5) Help to ensure that all certifying scientists maintain:

a) the ability to describe the standard drug testing procedures from point of collection to positive certification in a court of law
b) the ability to interact with clients, medical review officers, call center representatives and sales staff in a professional manner in order to address any questions pertaining to the drug testing process.
c) a working knowledge of the accessioning procedures and protocols to ensure proper specimen and chain of custody handling
d) a working knowledge of the theory and practice of all initial tests, adulteration tests and confirmation test methods used in the laboratory
e) a through understanding of all laboratory quality control practices and procedures
f) a through understanding of the data review process, interpretation of test results and protocols for reporting results
g) a through understanding of all federal, state and other regulatory requirements as they pertain to all aspects of forensic drug testing
h) the ability to take proper remedial action in response to test systems being out of control limits or detecting aberrant test or quality control results.

6) Provide appropriate feedback to the Responsible Person in order to assist in maintaining an accurate SOP.

7) Maintain the ability to provide corrective feedback to all certification staff to ensure that laboratory and applicable regulatory protocols are followed.

8) Function as a technical resource for department personnel in all sections of the laboratory.

9) Comply with all safety and regulatory requirements as defined and applicable

10) Participate in the training of new personnel when indicated

11) Approve and review payroll and benefit hours for accuracy and completeness

12) Conduct staff meetings on a regular basis to identify and resolve issues and to review quality metrics.

13) Ensure compliance with safety requirements

14) Ensure that staff is reviewed regularly for performance. Provides coaching, as needed.

15) Other duties, as assigned by the Responsible Person

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

1. A bachelors degree in the Toxicology, Chemical. Biological or related discipline.

2. 6+ years of forensic toxicology experience or equivalent, including a minimum of 4 year as a positive certifying scientist in a DHHS certified laboratory.

3. Must meet Nevada requirements for certification as Laboratory Technologist or General Supervisor

4. Detailed knowledge of laboratory SOPs and testing technologies.

5. Detailed knowledge of applicable workplace drug testing Federal and state regulations.

6. Strong communication and leadership skills.

7. Training and experience in performing laboratory testing and reporting, maintenance of chain of custody, and understanding proper remedial action in response to problems with equipment or procedures.

8. Commitment to Customer Satisfaction and Quality processes.

9. Demonstrated ability to adapt as needs of the business change.

10. Completion of an in-house Certifying Scientist training program and approval by the Responsible Person to perform independent functions.
