Test Engineer (Entry Level)

Position Focus

We are looking for an energetic, self-motivated engineer who will be responsible for all aspects relating to the setup, monitoring, data acquisition and communication of results for various types of testing from development to production level. Individual will work with a team to create consistent, repeatable test methods utilizing a wide array of test equipment.

Job Tasks & Responsibilities

* Create technician work instructions by interpreting Federal (FMVSS, etc.) and OEM test specifications.
* Author test reports and log test dates/results into internal database.
* Maintain workload to ensure testing deadlines are continually met.
* Assist/Review tests set-ups and test instrumentation.
* Process data from various types of equipment including load cells, accelerometers, string potentiometers, microphones, LVDT.
* Assist with daily scheduling of tests, customer visits and equipment operation.
* Provide input/analysis to internal customers pertaining to test-related issues.
* Collaborate with others to continually advance test lab equipment, processes, procedures and quality.

Candidate Requirements

* Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering required.
* Good interpersonal skills are essential as the position involves working with numerous departments, including support of manufacturing facilities.
* Positive attitude and ability to collaborate in a fast-paced team environment.
* Ability to use MS Office Suite effectively to produce reports and presentations as needed.
* Strong knowledge of test instrumentation (LVDT, string potentiometer, microphones, accelerometers, etc.).
* Ability to design and conduct bench tests on a component level as well as a complete system; be able to recommend design changes based on observations.
* Periodic travel required to support program-related meetings on an ad-hoc basis, possible trips to other test facilities, customers and suppliers. Occasional international travel may be required.

Preferred Requirements

* Experience with seat complete and/or component level testing.
* Familiarity with FMVSS/ECE and other government tests relating to seating (202A, 207/210, etc)
* CAD modeling experience.
* Knowledge of test instrumentation (LVDT, string potentiometer, microphones, accelerometers, etc.).
* Knowledge of servo electric, pneumatic and servo hydraulic actuators and control.
* Ability to interface with CAE team for test correlation efforts.
* Knowledge of CAN-bus protocol is a plus.
