Job Description

U. S. Steel's Minnesota Ore Operations includes two open pit mines and processing facilities in Northern MN (Minntac in Mt. Iron and Keetac in Keewatin) and has the following temporary, full-time vacancy for the summer of 2021.

INTERN TECHNICAL SERVICES: Reporting directly to the Manager of Engineering Technical Services, the successful candidate will work closely with other process engineers and personnel from the production departments. Responsibilities consist of assignment to a variety of projects including, but not limited to: optimization of unit operations, development of sampling plans, data analytics, process control, and development standard operating practices to maintain optimal process performance. In addition, this position will be responsible to carry out and conduct activities in compliance with the U. S. Steel Safety program to ensure a safe work environment within the assigned facility.

The position requires the candidate to be currently enrolled as a full-time student pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering or a related STEM field and have completed, or be working towards completion, of their sophomore year and be in good academic standing. The successful candidate will also exhibit excellent communications, planning, and organizational skills and be proficient using Microsoft Office and other web-based applications.

All successful candidates are subject to background checks, pre-employment physical examinations, and drug and alcohol screening.

Requirements:
Candidates must be a full-time student pursuing a Bachelors Degree or Masters Degree.
Candidates must be a current student and have completed their sophomore year by June 2021 and be in good academic standing.
Must have at least a 2.75 GPA, will accept 2.5 with experience.
Be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship
