Social Media Specialist

Job Summary:
This position is responsible for developing and growing SouthStar Retail brands social media presence, influence, and impact. The position also supports departmental needs related to digital marketing and email-related tasks.
Job Responsibilities & Accountabilities by Competency
Functional Expertise:
* Working knowledge of current trends in social media (channels, strategies, technology, pitfalls, etc.)
* Experience and familiarity with online and offline tools required to fully support multiple brands, channels (monitoring/listening, planning, publishing, responding, sharing, reporting, etc.)
* Assist with the creation of monthly email calendars and the deployment of daily manual email campaigns
* Monitor daily social and email activity and reporting to ensure processes are running smoothly, this includes deliverability, and data synchronization, user experience/flow, and engagement
* Work closely with web and email vendors and contractors to optimize all API calls (MQ and Prime) to ensure complete data and correct reporting
* Serve as a day-to-day operations contact and SME with ESP and other software
* Support other digital channels (SEO, SEM, Display, Social Media) as assigned or requested
* Document all things email related: templates, processes, triggers, etc.
Business Acumen:
* Ability to produce reports that translate raw data re: followers, influencers, shares, etc. into executive level summaries and reports
* Understanding of the social medias role in both the customer experience and the brands value proposition
* Support marketing efforts for email channel
* Support efforts to improve or enhance customer experience and increase sales/retention
* Understand the processes required to maintain and update all customer correspondence
Engagement:
* Drive increased knowledge of social media within both department and company by presenting strategy and tactic.
* Provide analysis and subsequent recommendations to ensure that marketing departmental objectives, goals and KPIs are met.
* Participate in cross-functional teams to ensure marketing plan execution of social, email, and related digital channels
Driving Results:
* Work with the rest of the energy marketing team to ensure that email social channel is performing as optimally as possible, meeting budgeted/forecasted key metrics, and working to complement other digital channels.
* Work with regulatory and legal to ensure all social media posts/responses and customer email correspondence is accurate, up to date, and CAN-SPAM compliant.
Qualifications
Education
* Required: Bachelors Degree in Marketing or I/S
* Preferred: Masters Degree in Marketing, Business Administration or Information Systems, Certificate in Project Management
Experience
Required:
* 3-4 years of Social Media experience on behalf of a company or brand in established channels (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, YouTube, Instagram, etc.), including use of social media management tools (HootSuite, HubSpot, Buffer, Sendible, etc.)
* 2-3 years of Digital Marketing experience
* Proven success in Project Management
* Proven success in participating with cross-functional teams
* Proven success in identifying opportunities and leading change based on these findings
Preferred:
* Previous experience in Email and/or Digital Marketing for a service related industry (utilities, financial services, telecom, insurance or warranty)
* Previous experience in Social Media platform in emerging social channels (TikTok, SnapChat, Caffeine, Twitch, etc.)
Knowledge/Skills
Required:
* Exceptional knowledge in established social media platforms and best practices
* Ability to set strategic, achievable goals and communicate results
* Presentation skills
* Exceptional analytical and communication skills
* Strong attention to detail
* Proficient with MS Excel
Preferred:
* Experience with digital customer experience dos/donts, best practices, current technologies
