Financial Analyst
This position supports the budgeting and financial decision-making process for Mississippi Power by developing and maintaining budgets for both business units and corporate budget functions as well as conducting financial analyses of investment alternatives.
Job Responsibilities
* Development of the budgets for Mississippi Power Company and ensuring the budget is prepared and maintained in accordance with target goals
* Performing monthly analysis of actual to budget data and year end projections for management
* Conducting detailed financial analyses to ensure regulated business decisions are achieved in a least cost manner to support regulatory cost recovery
* Application of sound economic and financial theory to meet customer analytical needs; unique nature of some needs may require new or creative approaches in the application of these concepts
* Supports development and enhancement of financial tools and models utilized in the financial analysis process
* Effective communication of budgets and financial decisions to management. This position interacts regularly with management and business unit leadership regarding budget and financial issues, placing emphasis on sound internal controls.
* Develop regulatory filing inputs and prepare related analysis
Job Requirements
* Bachelors degree in Accounting required
* CPA, MBA, or Advanced Business degree preferred
Job Experience
* 3 years experience Accounting, Finance or related business desired
* Working knowledge of Utility Accounting/Finance preferred

* Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment

The Southern Company, through its subsidiaries, engages in the generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity.
