Job Description

The Certified Peer Specialist will contribute in a peer support capacity to facilitate recovery and enhance wellness. The Certified Peer Specialist serves as a role model for recovery for staff and consumers and helps consumers to develop self-help skills and build support networks. The Certified Peer Specialist provides peer support in a manner that positively supports facility operations in a manner that is consistent with the philosophy and objectives of Lakeside Behavioral Health System.

Qualifications

Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's degree preferred.

Extensive knowledge of AA 12 step program required.

A minimum of three years' experience in a mental healthcare field preferred. One year experience in negotiating the mental health system (crisis services, vocational rehabilitation, human services, etc.) Current credentialing as a Certified Peer Specialist through the Department of Behavioral Health and Mental Retardation Services preferred. Valid TN driver's license and MVR that complies with facility policy. CPR certification. Demonstrates potential and skill in delivery of patient care. Demonstrates ability to provide support to individuals with consideration to special needs and behaviors of specific age groups.
