Position Overview:

Freddie Mac is seeking a motivated, mission-oriented Senior. SQL Server Database Administrator. As a Microsoft SQL Server DBA you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining Microsoft SQL Servers and implementing security and vendor standard methodologies in a distributed IT environment. Experience with supporting backends of business critical OLTP, OLAP and Enterprise Applications is required.

The position requires a DBA with highly skilled performance tuning and designing /developing database maintenance and other operational capabilities.



Our Impact:

* Responsible for and expected to 24x7 administering, configuring, solving problems and supporting SQL Servers in production and non-production environments running on Windows operating system.
* Protect production by exercising sound judgment and following operational practices and procedures
* Writing and leading scripts and utilities to automate day to day database administration.
* Assist with the monitoring performance analysis of existing applications and ensuring that the system is consistent with ongoing need.
* Write technical documentation, operational procedures, Incident and problem communications and reporting.
* Quickly restore service during system outages, provide troubleshooting support to team members, perform proactive problem prevention, and advance technical details to technical lead and/or to vendor support.



Your Impact:

* Maintaining, detailing and delivering Microsoft SQL, 2008, 2012, 2014, 2019 in accordance with certified specifications and security guidelines
* Experience with SQL upgrades across Microsoft Server versions.
* Diagnosing and resolving the toughest performance, security, and/or technical challenges related to the platforms listed above
* Writing implementation and design documents describing the current SQL infrastructure
* Participating in processes throughout all phases of ITIL Service Lifecycle, including submitting Change Requests and resolution of Incident tickets
* Performing requirements analysis, design, and integration for all platforms listed above.
* Investigating and resolving operational problems in conjunction with other engineering and technical personnel
* Be part of the team for on-call rotation and weekend activities as required
* Integration and design of SQL instances in virtualized environments
* Knowledge and experience implementation fault tolerant database solutions
* Write and manage scripts and utilities to automate day to day systems administration and configuration management tasks.
* Solid experience with automation.
* Communicates optimally with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative technical solutions and strategies
* Continually defines ways to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships
* Provide resolutions to an extensive range of complicated problems; Solutions are innovative, thorough, and practicable.
* Coordination with Technical Services lines to ensure implementation of standard methodologies for infrastructure governance, architecture, engineering, production support and service Management.
* Familiarity with issues surrounding the use of SQL Server in AWS cloud environment
* Performing regular health checks on environments



Qualifications:

* Bachelors in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
* Over 8 years of SQL Server DBA experience including HADR setup and maintenance.
* Over 5 years of strong scripting experience in PowerShell.
* Certified MCSA and (or) AWS SysOps Associate desired
* Ansible, Python and Jason/YAML scripting desired
* Sybase DBA experience desired
