Become a Transport Network Senior Specialist at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, youll part of System Operations group within Edison Carrier Solutions (ECS). ECS is growing and transitioning to data centric services with more Ethernet and Direct Internet Access type offerings. This position will support system network operations engineering functions and responsibilities in ensuring network designs, equipment and configuration are in line with industry standards, compatible to existing network and growth, can be maintained or monitored efficiently and managed. Povide Tier 3 technical support to the Telecommunications Control Center, Field Personnel and ECS Clients for ECS network technical issues, with the ability to facilitate knowledge sharing among the team. Provide expert in-depth analysis and troubleshooting of the highest level of technical complexity in the installation, maintenance, and support for ECS Telecommunications Transport Systems and Data/Networking. Responsible to ensure the high performance and availability of ECS Telecommunications Transport Systems and Data Core Network, along with the projects, creation of system design documentation and applications it supports.

* Performing in-depth analysis of telecommunications issues and developing solutions to complex problems.
* Use element management systems to monitor the real time operation of the network and responding appropriately to alarms, alerts and other informational messages.
* Apply periodic system upgrades, patches, and enhancements to network elements and the element management system to improve performance and correct anomalies.
* Collect and report daily performance data from the network in order to recognize performance trends and respond accordingly.
* Provide consultation to ECS organizations, SCE Shared Partners, and clients on the subject of telecommunications, network engineering and operations; providing technical engineering and architectural assistance to internal and external teams.
* Provide technical training, guidance and direction to telecommunications engineering, construction, maintenance and Telecommunications Control Center (TCC) or Network Control Center (NOC) personnel in support of installing, diagnosing, repairing, and testing of ECS Network Systems, Circuits and Services.
* Coordinate with and interact as an advocate with equipment vendors to resolve technical issues as and troubleshoot with vendors, customers, and peers, and perform root cause analysis.
* Perform site inspections on recently completed projects.
* Schedule and track various Preventative Maintenance activities.
* Verify and update various engineering and systems, drawings and data bases on customer orders and projects.
* Implement changes to new or existing products, features and or systems.
* Be responsible for creating and maintaining a safety conscious work environment by leading and influencing others to follow Edison safety protocols and safe work practices.

Qualifications
The essentials

* Five (5) or more years of experience in Transport and Network Engineering, design, configuration, network analysis, troubleshooting, testing, consulting, and providing recommendations on telecommunications systems. Specialized focus as a field technician, switch technician, and or network operations engineer in the Wireless Carrier or Internet Service Provider industry.
* Experience testing, provisioning, and troubleshooting Optical Carrier Technology including SONET, DWDM, TCP/IP routed data, Carrier Ethernet and ISP Systems, Services and Circuits.
* Two (2) or more years of experience with IP Protocols, MPLS, OSI Layers, DNS, Network Management and Element Management Systems.
* Two (2) or more years of experience in Network engineering, L2, L3, OSPF, BGP, VLAN, Multicasting, IP Network, Switching, Routing, VPN, Firewall, Load Balancing.
* Two (2) or more years of experience with IP subnetting.
* Three (3) or more years of experience in a Tier 2 and Tier 3 technical support and operations role.
* Experience working command-line interface or command language interpreter (CLI), also known as command-line user interface, console user interface and character user interface (CUI).
* Must be able and willing to act as on-call duty during off hours on a rotational basis.
* Valid driver's license and be able to travel throughout SCE service territory in own personal vehicle.

The preferred

* Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field.
* Experience design, configuration, network analysis, troubleshooting, testing of Nokia, Infinera, Fujitsu, Broadcom, Cisco, Juniper, HP, Ciena, Fortinet series network equipment.
* Certification CCNA or CCNP.
* Experience in configuration and utilization of Fiber, Transport and Network testing and analyzing tools to include but not limited to: Exfo, TBerd, Anritsu, Spirent, Wireshark
* Experience performing as a lead in the timely resolution of outage events and incident analysis and response.
* Experience in network technology infrastructure design, evaluations and/or deployments with large impact.
* In-depth working knowledge of Telecommunication Systems, Wireless and ISP networks and be highly skilled at problem solving and communicating complicated ideas and issues to multiple stakeholder organizations.
* Must have advanced computer skills (MS WORD, EXCEL, LOTUS NOTES, and MS ACCESS) and the ability to communicate complex information in a useful manner.
