ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Full software development lifecycle for emerging storage technologies and products.
* Areas of focus are bottom-up from data to insight, encompass storage devices, platforms and storage systems, and involve operating systems, open-source software components (including 3rd party), and industry-standard applications, as use cases.
* Enable the software ecosystem, determining compatibility and optimality of the software ecosystem with the underlying hardware, and/or how the software ecosystem influences hardware design; perform POCs to come up with best practices and possibilities of future product enhancements, and help build business cases.
* Contribute to innovation and integration of new technologies into products from within the Systems Architecture Group.
* Collaborate with other organizations including R&D, Product Management, Technical Sales and Support, and Marketing, as needed.
* Engage with customers, and sales teams to identify and resolve customer challenges; assist customers to deploy scalable storage solutions.
* Hands-on work with various infrastructure and storage systems in the in R&D lab

REQUIRED:

* Bachelors or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent
* Typically 10 years of experience

SKILLS:

* Strong in Linux-based development, integration, testing, and performance benchmarking
* Familiarity with flash-based storage: (e.g. flash characteristics, SSD design, data flows)
* Experience in programming and debugging using one or more of the following languages: C/C++, Java, Python, Go, Shell Scripts; knowledge of performance tools and scripting, and scalability benchmarking
* Familiarity with storage architectures and exposure to some emerging technologies like Computational Storage, Zoned Name Spaces (ZNS), new technology trends for Enterprise SSDs and HDDs, Enterprise Storage Systems, RAID Storage, Composable Infrastructure, Network Fabrics, GPUDirect Storage, and protocols like NVMe, NVMe-oF, Fibre Channel(FC), iSCSI, or SAS, SATA, etc.
* Knowledge and experience in distributed systems, networks, open source technologies, software tools, designing and optimizing end-to-end solutions architecture involving multiple storage types
* Experience with OpenStack, Kubernetes, Docker or any cloud software stack is a strong plus
Database experience, including knowledge of SQL and NoSQL, and related data stores is a strong plus
* Experience with big data technologies like Kafka, Spark, Hadoop/Hive, Cassandra, and related performance optimizations at scale is highly desirable
* Knowledge and experience in one or more artificial intelligence (AI) frameworks like TensorFlow, PaddlePaddle, PyTorch, Caffe, etc., and how AI can effectively leverage various types of storage systems is a strong plus
* Excellent analytical and problem solving skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills; documentation skills; ability to effectively communicate product value propositions, and enhancements for upcoming products
* Effective team collaboration, and relationship building, along with proven ability to be proactive, productive, and flexible in a fast-paced environment
