The selector position is a material handling, labor intensive job which processes work orders in the warehouse by manually selecting the correct products from the racks, palletizing them and delivering the merchandise to the dock secured and shrink wrapped for delivery in a safe and efficient manner. Considerable strength and endurance are required to safely and successfully perform the job. The work takes place in normal warehouse environments as well as in cooler and freezer areas where the temperatures may be as low as -5 degrees.

Main Ingredients of the Job

Selects customer orders from pick slots using pick lists of assorted items to build orders according to driver stops at customer locations. This involves operating several types of industrial equipment to include pallet jacks and forklifts, moving products from racks to pallet, labeling the selected cases with the order labels.

Must adhere to USDA Safety and Sanitation Regulations and customer specifications.

Validates that correct product has been selected and is damage free.

Work in multi-temperature areas as assigned.

Meet weekly standards for productivity and accuracy while working in a safe manner.

Delivers merchandise to correct dock area, stacks items on pallets according to driver stops at customer locations for next day delivery and shrink wraps palletized orders.

Performs various post-shift duties that could include:

o Clearing aisles of all debris, returning pallet jack to charging area, and hook up jack for battery charging.

o Stacks empty pallets from slots in aisle.

o Clean up any spills and places damaged product in recoup area. Completes any related paperwork.

Attend all required company meetings and adhere to all safety practices and company policies.

Able to work overtime as needed

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50-80 lbs. frequently while continuously standing or walking.

Comfortable working continually in a refrigerated environment 35F- 45F. Must be able to work for periods of time in a freezer environment -10F to +10F with company provided apparel.

What You Bring to the Table

Minimum one-year recent experience in highly physical, labor intensive occupation.

Minimum of six months comparable warehouse experience.

Minimum six months experience with warehouse material handling equipment (electric pallet jack or high low).

Minimum six months experience working with manual order selection/order filling systems. Must be available to work Sunday through Thursday nights (including holidays) and possibly Saturday mornings.

Finish time is when work is completed and could require overtime with or without notice.
