Software engineering is the application of engineering to the design, development, implementation, testing and maintenance of software in a systematic method. The roles in this function will cover all primary development activity across all technology functions that ensure we deliver code with high quality for our applications, products and services and to understand customer needs and to develop product roadmaps.

These roles include, but are not limited to analysis, design, coding, engineering, testing, debugging, standards, methods, tools analysis, documentation, research and development, maintenance, new development, operations and delivery. With every role in the company, each position has a requirement for building quality into every output. This also includes evaluating new tools, new techniques, strategies; Automation of common tasks; build of common utilities to drive organizational efficiency with a passion around technology and solutions and influence of thought and leadership on future capabilities and opportunities to apply technology in new and innovative ways.

Primary Responsibilities:

* Responsibility, at a high level, includes application Automation, Availability, Reliability and Stability on a 7 by 24 by 365 basis
* Provide on call support for multiple applications as needed (one week in every 8-10 weeks)
* Provide contribution to development and enhancement of application features.
* Ensure timely resolution of all production issues meeting or exceeding SLAs
* Ensure that the work delivered is of high quality
* Work with business to prioritize production issues for resolution
* Collaborate with distributed teams across the globe on application design and problem solving
* Ensure that all documentation has been updated and that work product meets compliance requirements
* Conduct or facilitate root cause analysis on all in-scope incidents and recommend a corrective action plan
* Act as a liaison between offshore resources and business / onsite IT management
* Assist in Providing estimates (or coordinate estimates from off shore) on all break / fix, and problem-management activities
* Conduct or facilitate root cause analysis on all in-scope incidents and recommend a corrective action plan
* Provide leadership in critical production issue resolution (both Priority 1 and Priority 2)
* Identify application performance improvement initiatives and implement the same in consultation with the Service Coordinator and Service Manager
* Work with the Engineering Manager in process improvement initiatives
* Provide management status reports

Required Qualifications:

* Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
* 3+ years of experience on Java
* 2+ years of DevOps and Agile experience
* 2+ years of experience with ServiceNow or similar Incident Tracking product
* 1+ years SOAP/REST Web services experience
* 1+ years with Public Cloud Technology (AWS or Azure)
* Ability to do on call support (one week in every 8-10 weeks)
* Employees are required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive VoiceResponse (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or a similar UnitedHealth Group approved symptom screener prior to entering the work site each day, in order to keep our work sites safe. Employees must comply with any state and local masking orders. In addition, when in a UnitedHealth Group building, employees are expected to wear a mask in areas where physical distancing cannot be attained

Preferred Qualifications:

* Previous UnitedHealth Group work experience
* Healthcare Industry experience
* Knowledge on Monitoring Tools
* Experience in working with Redis. Familiarity with Redis monitoring and its commands
* Navigating and troubleshooting using Splunk and Kibana logs
* IT Service Management Experience
* Experience with ITIL processes and management
