As a UX Engineer, this is a rare opportunity to be part of dedicated team responsible for information architecture redesign of a complex enterprise healthcare intranet. The successful candidate will have a solid foundation in information architecture principles, a command of HCI (human computer interaction) principles, and a track record of effectively delivering project work from ideation to implementation. Must be able to guide clients through business and content requirements definition, facilitate user interviews, and advocate for user-centered design through empirical evidence gathering.

Primary Responsibilities:

* Develop a deep understanding of the customers and end users, including needs and pain points and how they interact with the product
* Support lead designer in facilitation and of workshops with stakeholders and content owners to articulate business requirements and content requirements
* Conduct content inventory and gap analysis, facilitate authoring teams as they perform content auditing
* Work with team to help define a user-centered organization scheme that meets defined business goals, supports relevant content types (e.g., fragments, text, PDF, multimedia, applications), and has coherent relationship to enterprise product taxonomy
* Partner with researcher as team conceptualizes, tests, refines, and articulates information architecture elements including global, local/secondary, contextual, and persistent navigation patterns
* Deliver information architecture artifacts including blueprints/site maps, taxonomy/controlled vocabularies
* Partner with marketers and content strategists on metadata strategy, SEO
Partner with engineering on content management and search engine configuration
* Advise on labeling and iconography
* Collaborate with interaction designers to ensure information architecture/navigation is incorporated into their design deliverables
* Partner with UX designers and engineers to resolve any information architecture issues that emerge as site is fleshed out

Required Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in Information Science, Technical Writing, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field or equivalent experience
* 3+ years relevant work experience in a digital design context; large enterprise experience preferred
* Demonstrated skill producing the following types of UX deliverables: conceptual diagrams, information architecture blueprints, wireframes, clickable prototypes
* Experience working collaboratively with Agile delivery teams
* Excellent project management skills, including the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects concurrently
* Ability to work in dynamic, often ambiguous conditions requiring rapid transitions
* Ability to get up to speed with new material and tools quickly
* You will be asked to perform this role in an office setting or other company location.
* If you need to enter a work site for any reason, you will be required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or a similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener. When in a UnitedHealth Group building, employees are required to wear a mask in common areas, In addition, employees must comply with any state and local masking orders.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience with Sketch/Invision/Axure preferred
* Experience with empirical evidence gather tools (such as MUIQ, UserTesting, UserZoom, Optimal Workshop) preferred
* Healthcare Industry experience a plus

Soft Skills:

* Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills; the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization
* Strong relationship building skills and an ability to empathize with clients, co-workers, and users
