Position Summary:

The Market V.P. of Emerging Concept Business Development is an equal member of the senior business development leadership team. This position will be included in all strategic planning, decisions, and execution as it pertains to business development. The senior business development leadership team will consist of the National VP of Business Development, Market V.P. of Emerging Concept Business Development andNational VP(s) of Business Development.

Through the business development leadership team, this position will drive the companys strategic plan for growing Syscos market share as we secure new business with emerging chains (small and medium chains with progressive sales growth). Overall, this position is responsible for executing the center lead strategies for business development, while leveraging selling resources such as Regional Product Specialists, Supply Chain Optimization, Trade Management, Specialty Company collaboration, Merchandising and others to achieve the companys financial plan. This associate fosters relationships with prospects and transitions these accounts to the sales force during onboarding.

Responsibilities:

* The primary responsibility of this position is to deliver the agreed upon new business growth plan in alignment with the Business Development functions financial goals
* Manages a substantial sales growth pipeline comprised of short-term and long-term prospects
* Executes a disciplined approach on evaluating and prioritizing profitable opportunities that fit with our companys core competencies
* Leverages advanced analytics and field intelligence insights to prioritize opportunities and develop business development strategy
* Works with Sales and Market Leadership (President and CFO) to gain alignment on targets and proposals
* Accountable to build creative and effective sales plan to capitalize on multi-segment opportunities identified by advanced analytics
* By leveraging the expertise and skills of a cross-functional sales team, the Market V.P. of Emerging Concept Business Development will have the ability to quickly address prospects unique concerns, build trust, and shorten sales cycles
* Work with cross functional teams (i.e.) Finance, Marketing, Merchandising, Supply chain, CST and Specialty companies to build targeted customer business plans and sales strategy
* By working with the collective sales team, the associate will coordinate proposal process for multi-unit contracts that speaks to the clients needs, concerns and objectives
* Reviews weekly, monthly and quarterly sales objectives and results for target accounts and prepare action plans where improvement is needed
* Gathers information on emerging market and foodservice industry trends to understand the competitive landscape and position Sysco as the partner of choice
* Stays current with development in the field through participation in seminars, workshops and reading publications
* Develops strong working relationships with brokers, distributors, and foodservice industry peers. This associate is expected to be an active member of the foodservice community
* Develops strong working relationships with Supply Chain, Finance, Merchandising, Market and Regional Leadership teams and business development peers
* Offers consistent communication and feedback that gain the trust of team, peers and leadership
* Adapts well to change and views new experiences as growth opportunities
* Up to 70% Travel required

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and / or Experience:

* Minimum: Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent educational level, 10+ years of relevant sales experience in a business-to-business professional sales environment and 5+ years with a proven track record of new business development
* Preferred: 5+ years with a proven track record of new business development in multi-unit concepts
* Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States

Professional Skills:

* Solid analytical problem-solving skills, including familiarity with analyzing reports & deriving insights from data
* Strong understanding of distribution economics, pricing strategies, and supplier contracts
* Strong understanding of Supply Chain field, and cost-to-serve metrics
* Ability to express information in terms of profit and loss, food cost and expense ratio
* Strong financial acumen and ability to properly plan and execute business plans
* Embraces change and champions corporate initiatives
* Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor peers and associates
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with and influence a variety of key stakeholders
* Strong communication skills; ability to effectively communicate with internal and external teams
* Ability to learn the use of proprietary CRM tools for planning and forecasting sales growth
* Proficient in Microsoft Applications Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
* Excellent organizational and project management skills, including the ability to execute multiple initiatives at the same time
* Business and restaurant operations acumen to manage sophisticated customers
* Demonstrated experience with building trust with a prospective customer and securing new business
* Demonstrated skills in the area of consultative selling, networking and negotiations
* Proactive, self-directed, with the ability to structure a weekly schedule to be successful
* Understanding of marketing principles, product lines, ordering procedures and Syscos credit terms
