Product Validation Engineer

Job Purpose:

The Product Validation Engineer is responsible for electrical and logical design, development and validation of IT products including schematic capture, layout review, and initial bring-up and debugging of new boards and platforms, including generating detailed test reports. The successful candidate will perform schematic, board level and system level characterization and debugging, generate characterization reports and statistical capture of DVT and EVT data including margin testing of memory, PCIe and IO subsystems, board voltage characterization and failure rates. The candidate is capable of generating work-around solution following the errata listings and recommendations of manufacturers. The successful candidate shall be self motivated, proactive, and have good communication and customer interaction skills.

Nature of Duties:

* Generate product requirement documents (PRD) for new boards
* Identify cost-efficient ways to develop new boards that meet the PRD
* Perform cost analysis of components
* Develop schematics for new boards
* Generate BOM
* Assist in layout review
* Work with procurement to secure timely availability of components
* Bring-up and debug of boards
* Validation of systems for compliance to computing standards: SATA/SAS, NVMe, PCIe, IEEE 802.3x, etc.
* Error logging and revision control of boards
* Integration into system and long term functional and reliability testing

Education and Experience:

* Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Systems Engineering (BSEE)
* 5 years of relevant electrical product design and development
* Good understanding of x86 server architecture
* Familiar with high speed PCIE retimers/redrivers and switches and or SAS IO controllers
* Excellent lab skills utilizing HS scopes with compliance options, script writing for automating testing, etc.
* Good working knowledge of signal integrity
* Excellent communication skills to develop and maintain proactive interactions
* Familiar with SerDes characterization equipment such as bus analyzers, High-speed oscilloscopes. JTAG boundary scan and system validation equipment such as bus and protocol analyzers.
* Knowledge of Intel XDP / IDP software a plus
* Team player willing to integrate into a heterogeneous team of electrical and mechanical engineers.

Pay range: $80,000 - $99,000
