Machinist
Job Purpose:
To clean and repair plastic injection molds and trim dies, fixtures and machines to ensure continued production.
Nature of Duties:
* Make repairs and changes in plastic molding tools and fixtures.
* Work from fairly complicated drawings, sketches and models.
* Set up and operate machine tools, and equipment using various hand tools and precision measuring instruments common to the trade.
* Make ejector and core pins, clean and polish mold cavities, make gate changes, knock out bars, piston tips and plastic nozzles.
* Remove stuck parts, remove drags and make minor repairs of tools in the machine.
* Maintain accurate counts of material and time involved and record on proper forms.
* Weld and braze with Heli Arc and Oxy Acetylene equipment, repair and replace parts in hydraulic equipment.
* Make repairs to electrical heating and sequence switches.
* Installation of other electrical items for plastic molding and die cast tools.
* Make replacement-machine parts.
* Assist maintenance personnel when needed.
* Assist other departments with repairs.
Education and Experience:
Prefer 2 year degree in Machine Tool and a minimum of 1 year previous experience.
