Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: The Financial Analyst-RIES supports the Operations and Business Development groups with responsibilities in the areas of providing complex analytical support for development projects, including related financial analysis, pro-forma model preparation and evaluation of new market and other business opportunities.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Responsible for the financial and capital investment analysis of business development transactions.
* Assists with the evaluation of new market opportunities including production of market maps, researching market demographics, identifying acquisition targets, evaluating greenfield projects, disposal alternatives and the competitive landscape.
* Develops business cases to evaluate adjacent business opportunities that may lead to a buy, build, or align strategy.
* Supports field personnel and other corporate development personnel in various business opportunities.
* Assists with the development and maintenance of pro-forma models, policies and procedures, and due diligence work programs.
* Develops and maintains department databases.
* Performs other job-related duties as assigned or apparent.

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field of study (required).
* Minimum of 2 years of related experience in financial analysis or accounting (required).
* Preferred experience of 3 years of combined public accounting (Big 4 or Tier II National) and corporate financial analysis or accounting experience.
* Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or similar professional certifications.
* Master's degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance or Business Administration.
* Experience conducting financial projects and statistical studies of a complex nature.
* Solid waste or transportation experience.
* Highly proficient Microsoft Excel skills, including development and use of financial models, pivot tables, graphs, macros, and complex formulas.
* Proven knowledge of financial analysis, forecasting, strategic planning, and interpretation of financial data.
* Ability to apply the concepts, principles, and procedures of accounting and finance to business development.

As of December 31, 2018, the company operated through 349 collection operations, 207 transfer stations, 190 active landfills, 91 recycling processing centers, and 11 salt water disposal wells, as well as 7 treatment, recovery, and disposal facilities in 41 states and Puerto Rico.It also operated 75 landfill gas-to-energy and renewable energy projects and had 129 closed landfills. The company was founded in 1996 and is headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona.
