The Test Equipment and Environments Center (TE&EC) includes all of the engineering disciplines responsible for systems design & test on all Raytheon Missile Defense (RMD) products. Our engineers are responsible for all elements of the development lifecycle for test including: test requirements, test system design, flight simulations, hardware-in-the-loop, computer-in-the-loop, advanced engineering prototyping technology, flight operations for manned and unmanned vehicles, environmental testing, environmental characterization and engineering laboratory management. We are hands-on, designing with the latest technology and tools, and integrate state of the art test solutions with the most advanced engineering systems in the world.

Within the TE&EC, the Test Operations & Environments (TO&E) Department includes the Environmental Test (ET) organization, which has the direct responsibility of providing environmental testing services, instrumentation, and data acquisition expertise to all missile programs. We are seeking a Systems Engineer for the Environmental Test organization. The candidate will be responsible for the execution and oversight of environmental testing such as vibration, shock, quartz lamp, thermal, structural, and modal, as well as vibration fixture design. All while collaborating in a team environment with ET Support Engineers, fellow ET Test Engineers, and internal program customers. The candidate will also be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the test including setup, control, monitoring, troubleshooting, and data collection.

U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.

Responsibilities:

* Develop and verify test plans and procedures as well as review plans and procedures written by others
* Oversee and conduct vibration/shock and temperature/altitude/humidity testing to validate models for the purposes of new product qualification, production acceptance, flight test clearance, engineering evaluations, and failure investigations
* Oversee and conduct structural testing to validate models and ensure safety margins
* Oversee and conduct aero-thermal heating testing using quartz lamps to simulate extreme heating environment during flight
* Design, model, and analyze vibration and structural test fixtures
* Assist in creating schedules and budgets
* Implement engineering best practices to ensure testing is performed accurately and on schedule


Required Education, Skills, and Experience:

* Bachelors of Science or Bachelors of Arts degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM). Must be either currently pursuing degree or degree must have been granted in the last 18 months.
* Experience in troubleshooting mechanical hardware, electrical instruments and/ or computer systems in an academic or internship setting
* Previous work and/or academic experience in a laboratory setting
* Experience using basic hand and power tools (for example: soldering iron, torque wrenches, or electronic test equipment)
* U.S. Citizenship is required


Desired Education, Skills, and Experience

* ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
* Experience with Microsoft Office products (such as Excel, Word and/or PowerPoint
* Bachelors Degree in Electrical, Aerospace, or Mechanical Engineering
* Understanding and working knowledge of test equipment troubleshooting processes
* Familiar with instrumentation such as accelerometers, force transducers, thermocouples, strain gages, load cells, and displacement transducers
* Experience with data acquisition system hardware and software such as Dewesoft, DEWETRON, Somat, and National Instruments LabVIEW
* Experience with solid modeling and analysis software applications such as PTC CREO, Fusion 360, CATIA, SOLIDWORKS, or ANSYS Workbench
* Current DoD secret or TS/SSBI clearance
* Good communication, interpersonal, planning and time management skills
* Interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written.
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
* Demonstrated ability to work with colleagues who represent a diversity of work and conflict resolution styles
