Raytheon Intelligence and Space (RI&S), Space Systems is seeking an experienced professional to join the Mission Assurance team as Principal Systems Assurance Engineer. The selected person will weave a Mission Assurance mindset into the program from its early stages, proactively identifying areas in the program, technical, and/or operational execution that could impact overall mission results, then collaborating across functional lines to assess and address them.

The topics addressed by Systems Assurance typically involve consideration of multiple issues, job areas or specialties, and are typically solved through drawing from prior experience and analysis of issues. Core competencies, skills and capabilities will be cross-functional to include Hardware, Software, Systems Engineering, Manufacturing, Integration, Assembly and Test as well as Systems Quality Engineering for Mission Assurance. Communication with parties within and outside of Systems Assurance and Mission Assurance will be required, and they may have responsibility for communicating with parties external to the organization (e.g. customers, vendors, etc.).

Principal Systems Assurance Engineer roles and responsibilities typically include, but are not limited to:

* Ensure programmatic and technical risks that compromise Mission Assurance are identified, assessed, and addressed from the start of requirements development through product delivery
* Interpret customer technical and Mission Assurance (MA) requirements, and ensure these requirements are integrated and sustained in program plans, specifications, product drawings and assembly plans
* Assure requirements flowdown is traceable to all impacted stakeholders within a Digital Environment (DE) that uses resources such as Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
* Ensure requirements and designs are poised for producibility, testability, reusability, reliability, safety, and maintainability
* Review requirements verification and validation planning and results
* Review and assess impact of variances resulting from major hardware and software nonconformances
* Assist with development of extensive root cause analysis and effective corrective action plans
* Lead or participate as a member in failure review boards (FRBs) to review and resolve systemic failure review and corrective action (FRACA) items
* Manage and perform process and product assessments for compliance to company directives, program plans, procedures, and work instruction
* Engage in program milestone reviews, technical reviews and technical interchange meetings (TIMs).

U.S. Citizenship required as the candidate must have an Active U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance day one of employment.

The candidate must have the ability to obtain a U.S. DoD Top Secret Clearance within first year of start date.

This position and any subsequent offers made are contingent upon contract award.

Required Skills

* Minimum 8 years experience in Mission Assurance, Quality Assurance, or Reliability with a focus area of System Engineering, or Design Engineering
* Working knowledge of selected Systems and Space Engineering disciplines (e.g. requirements development, analysis and allocation, Assembly and Integration, and Space Environmental Test)
* The ability to maintain positive relationships with program management, cross-functional program stakeholders, suppliers, customers and government representatives
* Ability to collaborate with program team members to develop practical solutions to complex problems
* Experience in predictive and proactive measures and metrics assessments and developing actions to improve performance or mitigate problems
* Working knowledge of a proven closed-loop corrective action system
* Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Desired Skills

* Working knowledge of Industry and Government Mission Assurance Requirements and Standards.
* Familiarity with product development processes (requirements, design, coding and testing), systems engineering methodologies and test techniques
* Experience working within the Digital Environment (DE) or a Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) environment
* Understanding of statistical measurement and analysis techniques, business process improvement, and change management philosophy
* Raytheon Six Sigma Specialist or Industry Six Sigma Greenbelt Certification
* Working knowledge of industry resources such as Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), Production Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), and Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) to lead the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP)
* Experience in risk & opportunity management
* Demonstrated track record in continuous problem prevention, resolution, close loop corrective action, and development of best-practices for technical functional excellence
* Highly accountable; mentally agile and capable of managing and completing assigned tasks
* Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter and team player that works without appreciable direction
* The ability to lead, motivate, and mentor others in routine settings and difficult situations.

Required Education

* Bachelor of Science Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics
* Bachelor of Art Degrees in an appropriate field of science (Computer Science, Chemistry or Physics)
* Bachelor of Art Degree in Mathematics

Desired Education

* Advanced Degree in Engineering, Science, Mathematics or Quality Assurance
* For the Bachelor of Art Degrees listed above, ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard
