Raytheon Missiles & Defense is seeking a Sr Software Quality Engineer

Please note, this position can be a Salary Grade G09 or Salary Grade G10 based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and requirements for the position.

The Sr. Software Quality Engineer uses and applies extensive advanced software quality practices, principles, theories, concepts and techniques associated with the evaluation of software, firmware and configurable logic development for embedded multi-processor systems, and test systems.

RMD Software Quality Engineers enable engineering quality solutions, capabilities and services to the business. Most important is collaboration with our functional partners and customers (internal and external) to execute and solve problems quickly and efficiently. RMD Software Quality Engineers are embedded throughout the engineering lifecycle to prevent defects from reaching the warfighter and to ensure flawless program execution to meet quality, cost, schedule and technical objectives.

This Quality Engineer:
* Provides solutions to complex technical software quality problems using established quality practices.
* Works as a self-starter.
* Follows and recommends changes to department processes and procedures.
* Reviews software products and processes for compliance to contract requirements, software directives and reviews work practices for adequacy.
* Provides guidance both to project staff and department senior staff.
* Guides the successful completion of program quality assessments and may function in a software quality leadership role. Interacts with senior product development and test personnel through both written and verbal communication.
* Has extensive knowledge of emerging software quality technologies.
* Conducts and documents reviews of engineering materials related to the design and release of software artifacts.
* Supports development of advanced software quality measurements, and influences the successful completion of supported programs and projects.
* Develops and negotiates quality requirements and support for projects.

Raytheon Missiles & Defense is seeking candidates who have mature skills and competencies in one or more of the following product domains:

* Embedded software
* Firmware and Configurable Logic
* Test Equipment software
* Modeling and Simulation software
* Supplier software
* System and Software Engineering Processes
* Software Metrics and Analysis
* Software Verification and Validation
* Software Configuration Management

Required Skills:

* Minimum of six (6) years SW/Systems Engineering, SW Testing or equivalent SW lifecycle experience or SW Quality Engineering
* Ability to obtain Department of Defense Secret Clearance

Required Education:

* Bachelors degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics

Preferred Qualifications:

* Minimum of eight (8) years SW/Systems Engineering, SW Testing or equivalent SW lifecycle experience or SW Quality Engineering
* Minimum of 6 years of practical experience using high order languages
* Masters degree in Engineering
* Existing Secret Clearance
* Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action expertise
* Six Sigma Principal Specialist or Expert
* Domain knowledge in SW Coding and/or Testing
* Domain knowledge in Agile, DevOps, DevSecOps, Code Analysis and/or Test Automation techniques
* Advanced experience in software test, cybersecurity, software or information assurance
* Demonstrated Applied Critical Thinking Skills
* Ability to influence without authority, experience with cross functional teams
* Experience in multiple phases of the program / product life cycle
* Ability to prioritize work load in a multi-tasking, resource constrained work environment
* Excellent interpersonal and communication teaming skills, with the ability to communicate throughout all levels of the company and customer community.
* Possess the experience to research and interpret standards for application at RM8S (e. g. ASE, ISO, IEEE, DoD, DFARs, etc.).
* Knowledgeable of CMM / CMMI practices
* American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certification, R6s Expert or Six Sigma Black Belt
* Mission Assurance Certification Software Level 4 or 3 (Internal Candidates Only)
* Travel domestically or internationally up to 20%
* Desired Education (including Major):

This position requires either a U.S. Person or a Non-U.S. Person who is eligible to obtain any required Export Authorization.

This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Non-US citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Defense Industrial Security Clearance Office (DISCO), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. Security clearance factors include, but are not limited to, allegiance to the US, foreign influence, foreign preference, criminal conduct, security violations and drug involvement.
