Raytheon is seeking a Software Engineer to be part of a team that provides life-cycle management of specialized software on a mission critical system. You will directly support end users and provide guidance and training as needed. You will provide software modifications at the direction of the customer to add new capabilities or fix issues discovered during use of the applications by the end user. You will provide user documentation, OS and software application configurations and testing.

This position is located in Ft. Meade, MD and cannot be done remote.

What you will get to do:

* Perform moderately complex analysis, design, development, testing, and debugging of computer software applications
* Provide end users with guidance and training as needed
* Provide on call support as needed
* Develop system level scripts in various common languages
* Perform security updates on network and computer systems
* Incorporate all security disciplines, recommend and develop requirements specifications, designs, and procedures to satisfy program security policy
* Monitor the implementation of security requirements for government facilities and systems
* Develop reports, information, and recommendations that support the implementation of government security requirements

* Qualifications You Must Have:
* Active/Current TS/SCI security clearance and CI Poly required
* A minimum of 4 years of Software Engineering experience
* Security Plus Certification (or CISSP) required OR the ability to acquire the certification within 45 days of hiring
* Experience in JAVA development language and Python scripting
* Experience with NetBeans IDE or Eclipse IDE in Linux environment
* Experience with Red Hat Linux operating systems installation and administration
* Virtualization experience and administration skills
* Experience in developing User Interfaces
* Understanding of security technologies and concepts, experience in implementation of secure network solutions.
* Knowledge of Information Assurance and Information Operations technologies.
* Understanding of the processes and guidelines for Certifying & Accrediting (ICD 503) information systems.
* Ability to work in mission critical team environments
* Solid understanding of software testing methodologies processes
* Proficiency with MS Office Applications

Desired/Preferred Skills:
* 6+ years of work related experience
* Proficiency with scripting languages for Linux Operating Systems
* Hands-on experience with security scanners and audit resources
* Experience in problem solving and troubleshooting of complex/distributed DoD systems
* Knowledge of modern computer systems, client/server, LAN/WAN and Network concepts, modern network management and monitoring concepts
* Familiarity with mysql/mariadb
* Proficiency in technical writing

Required Education:
* Bachelors degree from an accredited college in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent
* Must meet certification requirements of DoD 8570 IAT Level II or III (https://public.cyber.mil/cw/cwmp/dod-approved-8570-baseline-certifications/ )

* Other: Position is primarily Mon - Fri, however after hour and weekend support may be required to meet operational and surge mission requirements.
