Basic Job Functions:

The basic functions of Maintenance Utility Technician is as follows: (1) Utilization of knowledge and skills to support a plant wide Building & Structural maintenance team including building and component inspections, preventive maintenance, door repair, HVAC, fabrication and construction projects. (2) Participation in a training and development action plan required for continuous improvement and support of the maintenance and production teams. (3) Develop and implement projects for continuous improvement. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. 2 year industrial maintenance degree, 4 year engineering degree or 1-2 years Maintenance Experience
2. Ability to successfully complete the General Maintenance Assessment

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Welding certification and fabrication experience
2. Understanding importance of quality affect from plant maintenance activities

This segment also engages in the piling distribution business. The Raw Materials segment produces direct reduced iron (DRI); processes ferrous and nonferrous metals; brokers ferrous and nonferrous metals, pig iron, DRI, and hot briquetted iron; supplies ferro-alloys; and processes ferrous and nonferrous scrap metal, as well as engages in the natural gas drilling operations. This segment sells its ferrous scrap to electric arc furnace steel mills and foundries for manufacturing process; and nonferrous scrap metal to aluminum can producers, secondary aluminum smelters, steel mills and other processors, and consumers of various nonferrous metals.

The company offers its products through its in-house sales forces; and internal distribution and trading companies. The company was founded in 1940 and is based in Charlotte, North Carolina.
