Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Communications is seeking a Communications Manager to join the Navigation, Targeting amp; Survivability (NT amp;S) division communications team in our Rolling Meadows, IL, Linthicum, MD or Mclean, VA office. The Communications Manager is responsible for developing, managing and administering external, internal/employee and executive communications.

External Communications: Serve as media relations liaison, developing key strategic messages for priority programs, identifying media opportunities, drafting and distributing all press releases and media advisories, coordinating press conference/media interviews, building advertising and sponsorship strategies, representing the division at key trade shows and generating monthly metrics.

Internal/Employee Communications: Direct internal communications activities, including overseeing the division messaging strategy, developing leadership talking points, drafting articles in support of division and enterprise objectives, employee emails and intranet management.

Executive Communications: Responsible for drafting executive speeches, briefings, talking points, division and campus communications, and video messaging.

Additional responsibilities include leading strategic communications programs and processes. The Manager of Communications will serve as a communications subject matter expert/liaison on numerous teams across the site, division, sector and corporation. The individual will be an advisor for colleagues at multiple sites, ensuring consistency in use of communication vehicles as well as messaging.

The position will report to the Director of Communications for the NT amp;S division, and support the Vice President and General Manager, NT amp;S division. Additionally, this role supports the Sector Communications organization with sector-wide communications strategies, campaigns and thought leadership opportunities. This role will also have management responsibility for members of the division communications team.

Qualification

Basic Qualifications:

* Candidates must have a bachelor rsquo;s degree in communications, English, journalism, public relations or a related business discipline; or a master rsquo;s degree
* Possess at least 9 years of related professional work experience with a bachelor rsquo;s degree or 7 years related professional work experience with a master rsquo;s
* Demonstrated excellent writing and editorial skills as well as the proven ability to make clear, convincing presentations to senior management
* Track record of leadership success with substantial projects
* The ability to translate the organization rsquo;s business goals and technical, often complex information to a diverse set of audiences using a variety of media
* Skilled at adapting to rapidly evolving priorities and the ability to manage multiple projects while meeting schedule and quality requirements
* Strategic thinking, interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to manage budgets, schedules and executive support
* Proven success in leading teams and mentoring, collaborating and developing skills in others
* Ability and willingness to travel 25% of the time in support of media activities, trade shows and requirements at other campuses
* Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite
* U.S. Citizen and ability to obtain security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

* Master rsquo;s degree in communications, marketing, advertising or related field
* Communications/journalism experience in a large, complex corporate or agency organization
* Media relations experience
* Strong business acumen; ability to understand the broader business impacts, provide recommendation, and clearly communicate to senior level leadership
* The candidate should drive innovation and creative approaches for reaching target audiences and achieving and measuring desired outcomes/actions
