Northrop Grumman Strategic Space Systems Division, has an opening for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals and maintain our world class capabilities in a dynamic environment. This position will be located in Redondo Beach CA.

This position is defined as a Mechanical Engineer 2, Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE) design engineer. MGSE is used to support the integration, test and launch of spacecraft. The candidate will support the design modeling and drawing efforts utilizing CATIA V5/3DX. In particular, the Engineer will create or update layout drawings, fabrication drawings and engineering change orders, give design review presentations and perform some fundamental types of analysis (e.g. strength of materials).

Essential Functions
- Fabrication engineering liaison support
- Hardware testing
- Support Integration and Test (I amp;T) operations on the high bay floor as related to MGSE usage and processing
- Design, develop, amp; analyze mechanical equipment used for space systems integration amp; test

Qualification

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) field from an accredited institution and 1 years of engineering experience OR Masters of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) field from an accredited institution and 0 years of engineering experience.
-Familiarity with design modeling and drawing efforts using 3-D CAD modeling tools (CATIA V5 or Pro/E)
- Ability to obtain a DoD Top Security Clearance or SCI Access.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Active In-Scope Top Secret Security Clearance and SCI Access
- Masters rsquo; Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Previous experience in MGSE design, fabrication, and proof load testing
- Cooperates with teammates on best practices and possible re-use of applications
- Previous experience with FEMAP/Nastran and Mathcad
