Parkview Regional Hospital
Creates a sanitary, safe environment and enhances the appearance of the facility.
Reporting to the Supervisor, this position is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, aiding in the prevention of cross contamination, controlling bacteria and odor and sustaining an acceptable aseptic condition.
The incumbent should have the ability to perform basic cleaning functions including the operation of a wet/dry vacuum and shampooer.
Special skills include knowledge of handling procedures for infectious and hazardous waste.
Cleans patient rooms and other assigned areas daily, including collecting and removing trash, changing bed linens and sanitizing all surfaces.
Follows policies and procedures on patient isolation.
Stocks paper items and other supplies in patient rooms as necessary or designated.
Maintains cart and equipment in clean, working condition and stores in appropriate storage area when finished with shift.
Job Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent X preferred
1 plus years experience cleaning in a healthcare setting X Preferred
Reading, writing and mathematical skills and the ability to receive and transmit information normally acquired through obtainment of a High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
Successful completion of housekeeping In-service, chemical usage training, equipment training, and a hepatitis vaccination. Demonstrated knowledge of policies and procedures pertaining to the use of cleaning supplies, materials handling, data entry and all other relevant tasks of this position acquired through on-the-job training.
Effective interpersonal communication skills in order to maintain cooperative work relationships.
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
