Description
The Director of Parcel role acts as liaison between businesses partners and parcel transportation carriers to provide thought leadership for strategic operational decision making. This position is responsible for helping negotiate contracts with carriers, as well as plan, develop, and maintain a transportation network built for speed and predictability. Leveraging technology and reporting to drive and influence decision making, and to identify opportunities for speed initiatives or cost savings is highly important. This role requires the ability to influence senior leaders as well as to lead meetings and projects across all levels of the organization. The network's capabilities are to meet the required customer service and capacity requirements, while maintaining expense efficiencies. This individual is ultimately responsible for strategically optimizing the current state network while continually looking for ways to streamline processes and enhance capabilities.

SCOPE / SKILLS OF DECISION MAKING:
* Significant degree of independent decision making regarding day-to-day operational activity, as well as, planning and execution against key business initiatives. Requires minimal next level approval/oversight to decisions and solutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Negotiate new contracts with carriers that will support future growth initiatives
* Drives longer term strategic plan that involve collaborative efforts of VS NewCo leadership
* Day to day leadership and management of 3PL carriers and a $150 mm transportation spend
* Utilizes strong cross-functional collaboration, communication, active listening, and negotiation capabilities needed for decision making/solution alignment.
* Effectively interpret and communicate vast analytical data & metrics with leadership and carriers
* Working knowledge of TMS and WMS systems
* Working knowledge of P&L's, forecasting, budget, costing, etc.
* Drive changes in the supply chain through constant process improvement
* Effectively utilizes technology to optimize the network through constant analysis
* Responsible for establishing, monitoring, and communicating weekly, monthly, and annual expense and service level measurements
* Leadership oversight of peak season plans to third party providers
* Driving carrier accountability and ensuring SLA compliance and performance
* Leadership of VS NewCo Parcel team
* Acts as visionary & strategic thinker with insight to understand and act on customer/business needs.

Qualifications
* Proven knowledge of parcel transportation supporting B2B and B2C operations
* Knowledge of hub and spoke type of networks that support multiple types of operations (Parcel Carriers, Postal Consolidators, Delivery Agents, Couriers, and Regional Carriers
* Carrier contract negotiation experience
* End to end carrier contract ownership
* 10 + years of supply chain experience
* High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
* Strong analytical skills
* Experience managing direct reports
* Self-motivated and self-directed
* Change agent with innovative and an entrepreneurial spirit
* Ability to lead projects, project management from conception to implementation
* Experience in transportation rate negotiations and contracts
* Leading a Domestic transportation organization with a specialty retailer, with an emphasis on postal consolidation a plus.
* Ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization
* Operates successfully within a team focused organization to achieve desired outcomes
* Interacts effectively with all levels of internal and external organizations, suppliers, and customers
* Possesses strong organizational and communication skills
* Possesses working knowledge and experience with technology and systems application used to support
* transportation and logistics operations and information requirements
* Ability to travel up to 20%
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in business or equivalent experience
