The Ethernet Customer Solutions Group (ECS) is looking for a Software Application Engineer. You will enable design wins, support the customer through the design-in phase, provide software development and debug support, and own the resolution of technical issues throughout the product lifecycle.

Software Application Engineer will work onsite at Dell Austin site to support the platform product.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

* Combination of working independently, with peers, design engineers, and software engineers to ensure that customer needs and requirements are being addressed.

* Implementing bug fixes, tracking, and coordinating software builds, and releasing the platform software.

* Develop technical collateral to assist in customer development activities.

* Develop technical collateral including white papers, application notes, and training material.

* Willing to travel (15-20%) - as appropriate for product development.

Soft Skills:

* Willing to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills with customers (and peers) of all skill levels.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field with 4+ years of industry experience.



Minimum Required Qualifications

3+ years of experience in the following areas:

* Software development - preferably with network device drivers and/or firmware (Windows, Linux, VMware, FreeBSD, UEFI)

* Networking and Ethernet fundamentals - protocols, topologies, features, etc

* Enterprise level Ethernet networking architecture, protocols, topologies, and networking products.

* Complex driver debug experience including experience with trace analysis

* Direct customer interaction in technical support role demonstrating strong customer orientation.

* Server Platform support experience.

* Dell Server experience.



Additional Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience with BIOS/UEFI, NC-SI, PLDM, or PXE.

* Firmware development and/or validation experience.

* Scripting expertise - Powershell, Python, etc

* Experience with IPS and/or HSD defect tracking applications.
