This position is associated with the sale of Intel's NAND memory and storage business to SK hynix (You can read more about the transaction in the press release - https://newsroom.intel.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/11/2020/10/nand-memory-news-q-a.pdf). The transaction will enhance the resources and potential of the business' storage solutions, including client and enterprise SSDs, in the rapidly growing NAND Flash space amid the era of big data.

As a Linux Driver Developer, you will be part of a world-class team that will transition to lead the SSD business at SK hynix.

This position aligns to Phase 1 of the transaction, which includes the 3DNAND enterprise and client SSD business. Phase 1 is expected to close in late 2021, subject to regulatory approvals and other customary conditions. At deal close, all employees aligned to this phase of the transaction will transition to SK hynix.

In this position, you join a fast-paced team enabling host software stacks for Intel Solid State Drives (SSD) products. You will contribute to building host software solutions and overseeing their integration with Intel SSD firmware and validation environments. The primary focus is on enabling our future generations of SSD products for our key customers. You will work in an agile development environment across organization boundaries and gain valuable experience while contributing to our product and SW roadmaps.

Responsibilities:

* Translates computer industry storage specifications into concrete, practical designs for realization within the Linux operating system
* Ability to analyze storage protocols to troubleshoot driver problems and to recognize and develop storage performance enhancements
* Contributes to Linux's NVMe device driver as well as other areas of the storage stack
* Daily positive interactions with the Linux kernel community with the chance to represent our team at OSS conferences
* Provides friendly driver support to both internal SSD stakeholders as well as external customers
* Creates training materials on owned areas and delivers them to partner teams
* Mentors junior engineers
* Software development skills: C / Bash

Qualifications

Candidates must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Requirements listed below would be obtained through a combination of schoolwork/classes/research and/or relevant previous job and/or internship experiences.

Education:

* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field

Minimum Requirements:

* 4+ years of industry experience with C in Linux development environments
* 5+ documented contributions to the Linux kernel
* 3+ years' experience writing Linux kernel device drivers

Preferred Qualifications:

* Existing contributions to Linux's storage stack
* Existing Linux kernel maintainer status
* Knowledge of storage protocols such as PCIe, NVMe, SCSI, etc.
* Experience writing UEFI, ESXi, or FreeBSD drivers
* Experience with the hardware emulation framework, QEMU
* Knowledge of Agile development methodologies
* Exposure to commercial product development/validation environment
* Experience with the git version control system
* Experience with Atlassian tools just as Jira, Confluence, etc
