JOB DESCRIPTION

GDIT is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as an IT Senior Systems Engineer to support the Design, Development, Engineering, Integration, Testing and Implementation and Sustainment of critical technologies for our customers.

As an IT Systems Engineer, the candidate will work closely with a team of dedicated multi-disciplined professionals in supporting customer mission objectives. You'll be responsible for working with coworkers, partners, stakeholders and customer representatives to create effective solutions, providing support to organizational Development & Engineering projects to deliver next-generation technologies across a wide-range of services and emerging capabilities, culminating in the delivery of unparalleled services that enhance customer mission effectiveness.

Additionally, personnel in this role will be a Tier-3 asset supporting critical/urgent Tier-2 incident escalations for resolution during normal hours (8:00AM - 5:00PM CST) and on-call afterhours.

Functional duties include:
* Work with a group of amazing people, committed to customer success
* Ensure solutions and activities delivered are aligned with the strategy and vision of the organization
* Automate deployment of elastic, highly available, and fault tolerant systems within a commercial cloud service provider ecosystem
* Migrate legacy on-premise services leveraging established and well-accepted design patterns while developing new solutions using automation tools and adhering to Agile, DevOps/DevSecOps development, implementation and sustainment models
* Improve and build upon existing automation tooling for provisioning of systems and software to achieve autonomous self-healing, availability, scalability and resilience
* Collaborate with fellow teammates on complex problems, and recommend improvements
* Assist in the deconstruction and interpretation of requirements supporting team projects
* Commit to staying abreast of both emerging technologies and evolving customer goals and objectives
* Engage with stakeholders and supporting teams, and ensuring customer expectations, satisfaction, risks and cost is managed appropriately as it relates to your activities
* Work to enhance team effectiveness by fostering a culture of unparalleled technical acumen in order to achieve maximum effectiveness in delivering services and solutions in accordance with the customer and end-user requirements
* Advocate for and articulate Development, Integration, Testing and product sustainment activities, contributing to processes and outcomes that enhance productivity, reduce cost while providing for evolutionary change to legacy service delivery models with sole purpose of increasing warfighter service availability, resilience, effectiveness and readiness
* Adhere to standards, policies, protocols, procedures and best practices that truly embody a Best of Breed Development & Engineer services delivery team
* Participate in architectural and design discussions as they pertain to Future State, Concepts, and planned or active Development & Engineering projects
* Participating in strategic engagements and events, as required
* Brief stakeholders on planned and active projects and activities

You'll be critical to executing solutions in support of customer outcomes. Specifically, you'll be:
* Keeping up-to-date with the latest innovations in technology - from new technology platforms, software and services to cutting edge tools that allow customers and teams to capitalize on efficiencies and deliver cost savings while enabling service expansion through deliberate technology investments that yield transformational capabilities to end-users
* Lead projects, support milestones and provide for hands-on technical development, integration, and implementation
* Leading the execution of approved technology-centric project activities while fostering partnerships, and external relationships with other strategic partners to deliver resilient and highly available solutions

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Requires a highly experienced and working knowledge of Cloud-based IaaS technologies and service delivery models
* Strong knowledge of IT Development, Engineering, Integration & Testing processes
* Excellent communication skills
* Extensive experience managing enterprise networks, network devices and other critical cybersecurity core services
* Provides technical guidance and leadership at every opportunity to ensure program success
* Must be able to interpret specifications, troubleshoot and create resilient, reliable, cost-effective solutions that drastically enable end user outcomes to be realized
* Strong understanding of DoD Cyber Security standards including Security Technical Implementation Guides, SCAP, Risk Management Framework
* Familiarization with Defense in Depth concepts

Security Requirements
* Must have a SECRET clearance with the ability to obtain an SCI (TS/SCI)

Work Environment
* Work environment is remote as well as administrative office, when required

Certification Requirements
* DoD 8570 IAT-2 or higher (Sec+ CE or higher) compliance required
* Must possess an Operating Systems certificate in a related OS (Microsoft, Linux, RedHat, etc.)

Education, Certification and Experience Requirements
* Bachelor's Degree in related IT discipline plus 5 years related IT systems experience/exposure
* Or
* Equivalent years' experience to a degree plus 5 years related IT systems experience/exposure
* Must pass a background check prior to hiring
