Our FRL Pittsburgh team does cutting edge research on the future of virtual humans for social presence in AR and VR. As a Research Science Manager, you will lead, manage, and inspire the research teams in exploring computer vision, audio processing, computer graphics, and machine learning challenges in building photorealistic virtual humans that look, move, and sound exactly like us. In this role, youll coordinate and mentor researchers in their work and career. The ideal candidate will have a passion for solving complex research challenges in ways that address real world problems and have a keen interest in managing the efforts of a group of researchers to produce new science and technology to make computers more intelligent.

Research Science Manager, FRL - Virtual Humans Responsibilities

* Help build and lead great applied research teams to deliver world-class research and products.

* Drive an excellent collaboration, continually raising the bar on efficiency.

* Champion research and engineering excellence, establishing metrics and process for regular assessment and improvement.

* Establish a solid project framework and excellent development processes.

* Provide technical leadership and guidance to both your team members and your project peers.

* Set clear expectations and create a positive work environment based on accountability, in collaboration with the engineering and management teams.

* Communicate and collaborate effectively with global hardware and software engineering teams. Operate strategically and tactically.

* Work on strategy and help set direction while delivering state-of-the-art algorithms.

Minimum Qualifications

* Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Computer Vision or related field.

* 5+ years of experience in research and development, and shipping of software products and/or services.

* 2+ years of experience managing cross-functional teams.

* Publications in top conferences in leading venues like CVPR, ICCV, SIGGRAPH, ICLR, Neurips, and ICASSP.

Preferred Qualifications

* Research background in deep learning for Computer Vision, Audio Processing, or Computer Graphics.

* Experience thriving in a dynamic environment where goals and requirements may be changing.

* Experience in industrial R&D.

* Strong technical communication skills.
